I have been working on loads for my POF 308 AR with a 20 inch barrel. So far I have been using only 168gr SMK and Varget powder but I have not found a great load yet... I have loaded all the way from 40gr to 43.5gr with a COAL of 2.800 and none seem to work that great. My best group is ~ 1 inch at 100 yards. I have shot both Hornady match and Federal GMM under 3/4 inches and 100 yards.

Anybody have a load setup for this rifle to try? Also what is the max COAL of the 308 AR mags? I did a quick search and have not seen anything.... I had heard the throats on most 308 ARs are cut a little longer so I wanted see how much I can go further out on the COAL. TIA!

What about the COAL on the .308 AR mags?

Re: POF 308 Load Data

2.80 is what I load mine at as it gets shot through many guns.Switch to 175s start around 43.5 and work up to 44 or so and see what happens. If you want to stay 168s I'd probably start around 44 and go from there.
