i have a pof 14.5" upper in the 6.5 grendel (only 6.5grendel upper pof made that i know of..... prototype). Its shoots great, tight goups for a 14.5" barrel, i couldnt be happier....never a malfunction till yesterday at the range.
I not an expert (thats why im posting thisfor you guys) but i believe i got a bad box of ammo. I been shooting the same ammo since i got it...hornday 123gr. A-max, i opened this box after shooting 2-20rd boxes before hand with no malf.....i got this box on sale for a different place and the first round fed fine, but after i pulled the trigger and nothing, i tried to eject it i thought i was goin to break the charging handle because of pulling it so hard. Long story..short, ever other box of ammo shot fine, but ever round out of this box did the same thing, i casing got jammed in there and still wasnt fully seated in the chamber after looking at the bcg...even the foward assist wouldnt push it in!! Just eye balling those rounds compared to the fuctioning ones, they looked identical.
The one thing i notice is they had a small flat spot from being pushed in the chamber. So of course my conclusion is the casing were either swelled up or a factory bad on the casings.
I dont shoot 1000's of rounds and never ran across this...is this common, or maybe old or bad storage in the wrong climate cause it was on sale?
Any thoughts, thanks....greg

Re: pof 6.5 grendel feeding problems

I had the same thing happen to me with my grendel. Same ammo hornaday 123 A-max. The problem seemed to be the case not sized right. My problem was the sholder not being bumped back as far as it should have been. So I pulled the bullet's and ran them threw the press and they worked fine after that.

I've read some of the earlier lots of this ammo had this problem. I would suspect the sale box was from this old lot. Contact hornady for a possible refund or exchange.
