Polishing up ai ax skin

I've got a few very small scuffs on my ax green skin. I figure I could just take some steel wool or very fine sandpaper to blend them in completely.

Anyone every do this or sometjing else with good results?

I have used steel wool and WD40 with good luck. No scrapes left over afterwards.
