Horrible budget I know. Im not where near the regular shooter most are here. I also dont compete, just do alittle coyote hunting and deer hunting. Building a 7mm-08 and looking for a scope under $400.

I ordered the Nitrex TR Two but the illumination was jacked up so its on the way back to natchezss. I like the scope otherwise but not sure to go back with the non illum version or try a different scope. I have owned a Millet TRS1 and liked it but compared to the bushnell 4200 it didnt gather light near as good.

I would like to have resettable turrets and 4-16x50 but just cant find much in my budget. I know, up my budget but I just cant.

Scopes I have looked at so far

Bushnell 4200 4-16x50 multi-x If this had reset turrets I would look no further. But with the glass should I compromise?

Hawke 4-16x50 Sidewinder 30mm Illum Mil-Dot

Bushnell Tactical Elite 3200 5-15x40mm Riflescope Multi-X

You're looking for $1k+ options on a $400 budget, so you're already going to compromise on quality. Decide what options you truly NEED. Do you NEED zero stop? Do you NEED illumination? If not, then you might be able to come up with a better quality scope for your budget, just not with all the bells and whistles.

I recommend you mostly look at the Bushnell and Vortex lines. They at least have a record of tracking well and Vortex also has good CS when things don't work according to plan.

I have a Konus M30 and like what it does for me. They have a 4.5-16 version that I think has some of the $1K option you are looking for under $400.

The glass is decent, it does have the illum. that you are looking for and adjustable turrets. Just a thought. Hope you find what you looking for.

I have 20x42 . Scope track and hold zero well. Glass is crap...

You got $400.00 bucks??? Spend it....Look here:

Want to go a little cheaper and think maybe you could do without the mildot? Look here:

Vortex, outstanding warranty, great CS, best bang for the buck. The glass is fantastic for a $400.00 or less scope.

Glass is better than the Super Sniper, equal to the VXIII I have and the forever warranty is a BIG plus. Perfect tracking. Never an issue with returning to zero. Target knobs (covered with caps). Just such a great piece of glass for the money.

16X is my vote for the best <$400 scope in existence.

Super Sniper 3x9 FFP Mil/Mil. It's solid, a great value, and has some nice features for the price. Granted it's not a 16x power scope, but I have seen guys hammering steel at 1000 with this model so it obviously will get the job done.

There's been some suggestions for 10 and 16X Super Sniper scopes. By all accounts, good scopes and good values. But don't go with a fixed 10X or 16X for deer and coyote hunting. Get a variable that'll go down to a minimum of 3 or 4 power.

+1 here for the SS10X42, I use my Super Sniper 10X for hunting Coyotes and I dont feel like there is a problem. Great scope for the $$
This is a Double about 3 years ago, 1 was 8 yards and the other was running away at 220yards.
