Gunsmithing Possible to use a Miculek comp on 6.5....

I have a 6.5x55 kimber sporterized mauser. Cheap gun (80 dollars the other day). I am wondering if I turn down the barrel and thread it to 1/2x28 is it going to be too thin at the bore? Also it's a 21" barrel and I'm planning to cut to 18" just to see how I like the "light rifle" type setup. I will prob let my wife hunt with it next year or I will and she'll use the 700. so I would like to keep MOA or a little less out to 3or 400 yds. I had 1.25" at 100 from a terrible rest with Remington 140 gn.
Tell me how bad I'm screwing up, but my main questions are about the barrel being too thin if I turn it down?
Thanks
Kael

Edit-- I do realize I'll have to ream the Miculek or any other .224 style brake

I don't really care about loud, was just gonna go this route as I have one laying around and the 1/2 28 threaded objects are easy to get. this is a budget rifle to the max so I'm tryin to go a route that I could use stuff laying around. Will it further reduce recoil or will there be no difference?
Thanks for the help

ha, thanks I believe I'll try it. I will probably thread for 1/2-28 as it's easy and I will eventually buy a new barrel that I'll thread to a size more common for the caliber.
Will the ~18" barrel hinder the caliber terribly? I'm waiting on handloading components for it so I don't know what it'll actually do and am hampered by a 150 yd range for a while so I can't really stretch it out.
Thanks for the help
