Hi
Iam trying to buy a trigger guard from DIP inc for a marlin papoose, but they wont sell out side the US ,its not a resticted item for export , does anyone know or have used a frieght/post fowarding service I could send one to,
cheers
Dave

DIP probably just doesn't understand international shipping and doesn't want to.
At the post office they have an export small form for stuff under 4#.
You can mark it as a gift and call it a tool handle. and put reasonable value on it like $12
First class to Europe is about $15 without confirmation. Priority is about $50.
Where in EU are you?

Hi
Iam in the UK , over here the only parts needing a license are barrel bolt recever and silencer , all these are proofed/ serial number stamped ,
Mccrazy that's a very kind offer , its listed as on back order today but will try and get a shipping date ,I can contact the DOC to get confermation that no export licence is needed if you like

BIS is probably where you need to ask. Export Control Basics (Exporting 101) Keep in mind TSA or FAA can at anytime search your stuff. If this is a restricted item and it is found, then you will be in a lot of trouble.

Ok so got this back today , looks like posting a few bits is a no go ,

A license is not required if the value is under $100.00.* However, the license exemption 123.17 (a) must be claimed by a US person registered with DDTC as an exporter.* It is unlikely that the private seller would be a registered exporter.*

I wonder how all those sales on eBay are done ?

i dont think that a gift would get around it ,
some of these export laws are just plain stupid,
especially as if you search through ebay type sites theres loads of stuff for sale by private sellers , who wont/cant be registered as dod exporters.

Dave, up here in Canada, we too know what a 'pain in the ass' it is.

It's things like this that prompt me to think of 'patents' and the total uselessness of them. A company can make a product, and patent it, and whatnot. But it they can't sell it to anyone outside their country, then ANYONE can make one or a hundred of those items, and feel free to sell them, right?

Can't show a 'loss in the market' when there is NO MARKET to begin with, right? So some of us might just as well fill the gap. It's up to "them" and their "betters" to figure things out. And realize just who their friends are, (if they want any) and who their enemies are (whom their helping more than their 'friends').

In short, yeah,,,,, I know how you feel. Trigger guards, and other innocuous parts are simply idiotically 'cherished'. Can't get 'em into the wrong hands. Let's give them F-18's instead.

Does not look like there is a legal way to post the parts , unless I can find someone who is regestered with DoD ,
I suppose the best thing I can do now is just keep checking eBay , guntrader, gunbroker etc,
Iam sure at some point they will turn up on eBay , there's mags , bolts , stocks etc now for sale , those poor peaple obviously don't realize they are in trouble with DoD. !!
