6 shots from 500 meters with my 6XC and 115gr VLD's...my dad was calling the shots while watching through a spotting scope. Slight breeze left to right. Nice to have someone along when you bang one out like this!

Re: Post your "groups" from 300+

Here's a pic of a 5 rnd group @ 930yd I did a while ago showing a couple of newbys how to shoot. Mine are the 4 in the center, with the one stray below them just left of center. the rest are the newb's shots once I had the rifle dialed in for them.

Re: Post your "groups" from 300+

This morning's heartbreak, with my Surgeon 591/Bartlein/Manners/USO 6XC.

Shot four at 500 and they all felt good, then I perceived a slight more breeze and held left corner of diamond for fifth shot (~.2 mil). CRAP-first four were .197moa!!!! At least I learned my wind hold was good....

Then I popped five at 300, but left 500 dope on first shot-(the circled one on the 500 target), and it landed exactly 1.5 mils above the very center of the other group. CRAP AGAIN!!!

Mattsnuked dropped a nice 2" or so group at 500 this morning too.

Re: Post your "groups" from 300+

From a custom 260 with about 3100 rounds through the barrel. I guess it still shoots...

It's only 3 rounds because I only had 3 rounds left and this was the last target of the day. Shot this yesterday. Bad ruler position but this actually measures 5 inches.

Re: Post your "groups" from 300+

That's a very nice looking cardboard backing setup you put behind that target, SS. I hope you put a frame on the target and kept it when you sold the rifle!

LOL,
The cardboard is the original piece that I had shot at, I just cut it down. The target resides in my reloading room posted next to a 200 yard group from the same rifle.

Top shot is a called flyer. With the flyer: "1.395" C-C, .444 MOA. Bottom 4 only: ".508" C-C, .162 MOA".

I am in awe of this rifle.

Re: Post your "groups" from 300+

The 5 shot group that I drew a box around was shot out of the back of my truck at 600 yards but that's not the impressive one....after that string I moved over about 15 yards to fire from a roof-top simulator.

From there I shot the remaining shots rapid fire. Prone-slung with no bipod or rest. I missed 2 out of 10. I should also add that the right 2/3 of the target was blocked by bushes in a stand of trees between me and the target (roof-top shots only). All I could see was maybe 4" of the left target edge. Shot with a GAP10.

Giddy-up.

I had a 6.5x284 built a couple years ago at Benchmark. Here is a five shot group at 500 yards i shot prone off my bipod. I was testing primers this day. I shot another five shot group the same day that measured 3" with the other primer.

Re: Post your "groups" from 300+

Shot today at a friends range. Ones in the white i couldn't spray paint over i didn't have any white paint. First is at 500yds, second is first attempt at 600yds with the .308 and .223. Then final is 5 shots with my .308 at 600yds. Nothing special but i enjoyed the hell out of hearing the steel "ting" first time taking my weapons out that far anyway. Going to have to mount my target at 700-800 and see what i can do.

Wow, very good shooting! Makes you wonder what these guns are truely capable of if we could only get our stuff together. Again good shooting.

Re: Post your "groups" from 300+

Working up a load for this bullet has been a challenge for me. I'm getting closer.
I think I'll go back to 44.7 gr. of the 8208 in order to get rid of those flyers and tighten up the groups. Cutting down on the coffee before heading to the range might help too.

Re: Post your "groups" from 300+

300, 400, and 500yds today. Felt good shooting, groups are so so. Varget has to vary lot from lot i was having to dial 2/10ths lower than my last shooting with the same load. Overall a fun day none the less.

Re: Post your "groups" from 300+

Bringing it back.

I went to do some practice and have a plate set up 830 yards, forgot to bring camera to take photo of area. The 10"x10" plate is setup across a canyon were winds are tricky.

Marlin xl7 30-06 shooting 185 vld 4 shot a 4.125" group / Bigger splats.
Stevens 200 7mm-08 168 vld 3-shot group was 3.5" the other 2 were trying to find wind adjustment still held MOA.

The low shots were 162amax which shot a little over 3".

I was super pumped on the grouping with 7mph winds. Yes i did miss the plate in the beginning, only because my windage was off by half moa.haha....

Just wanted to share results. Long range shooting is so much fun.

4 rounds off the back of the truck standing, set up shot 6.5/308/8mm and fired two more before moving back to 700.

Same thing, hopped out of the truck, "man that steel is tiny at 700".
I missed the first couple due to a wind change then sent two right.
