    UNOFFICIAL Sniper’s Hide Net Matches

    Rules:

The matches are open to any and all shooters. The matches will run one week at a time and the best target submitted by Sunday at Midnight, EST, is the King/Queen of the Hill for that week till next Sunday at Midnight.

Targets shall be posted to the thread with score noted. Posting time is the determining time.

Match format. 20 shots on one target fired in a time limit of 20 minutes with no intervening shots, be they sighters or otherwise.

You may fire as many sighters as you want prior to starting the match but once you fire your first shot on your target, you cannot “leave” your target and you have 20 minutes to finish all 20 shots on the same target. You may fire only 20 shots on the target. Any extra shots will count the lowest 20.
No pasters on the target, so start with a fresh target and put your pre-match sighters on another target.

Distance. You may fire from 100 to 1,000 yards using the longest distance you have available. But you must use the appropriate target for the distance you are shooting. Most shooters are probably going to be shooting at 300 yards on the MR63 (sling shooters) or MR63F (Fclass shooters). If you shoot at 100 yards, use the appropriate 100 yard target, etc.

Classes. Sling/irons, sling/scope, F/TR and F/Open. All normal NRA rules apply to classes, rifles, etc.

Scoring. NRA scoring rules apply. For a shot to count on the next higher scoring ring value, it must be in the ring or the bullet must break the line. Pictures must be clear enough that we can score from the thread. The only exceptions may be very close shots, but under NRA rules, the shooter will get the benefit of the doubt.

Fun. This is for FUN, so you better have fun while shooting. The idea is to give us a chance to put some rounds downrange for fun AND for a reason, to see if we can put up a nice score/target. High power is a game of honor, so don’t cheat. If you do, you are only cheating yourself as you aint going to win diddly anyhow! The idea is for each of us to become a better shooter with practice, especially when that practice has some sort of a purpose other than just spraying rounds on the target.

    Re: Postal Match

Targets: Please be sure to use the proper target for the proper distance. For example, if you are a sling shooter and shooting 300 yards, use the MR63 target, if you are an F class shooter at 300 yards, use the MR63F. But dont shoot on a longer yardage target at a shorter distance.

see http://www.nationaltarget.com/cgi-bin/mi...ategory_Code=RT for targets. You can get repair centers only if you wish to save some moola.

If you are still not sure, ask here in the thread or pm.

When you submit your target, please be sure to add details on what rifle you shot, catridge, class (sling/irons/any sight or F class O or TR) distance shot, conditions, date, etc.

    This should be fun.

Ok, guess I will get this started. The pic is one of my 600 yard strings from this weekend at Butner. Of course, as I cant keep the target off the frame, I have recreated it from the plot (score can be confirmed online as this was a registered match) sheet done by my scorer (I ask my scorer to plot my group whenever possible so I can go back and look at my elevation and for possible load/gun issues, etc.

    Date: 10-23-10
    Score: 200-14X
Distance: 600 Yards during a registered match on the MR target (1 MOA X ring, 2 MOA 10 ring)
How shot: Sling, irons, prone (no rest or artificial support), ie, high power sling style
    Rifle: McBros T2000
    Cartridge: 6XC
    Bullet: Berger 108BT
    Powder/Primer: 38.0grs H4350, Wolf LRM
Barrel: White Oak Arms Wilson 26" (its one of my across the course rifles) at 680 rounds
Tempature, about 50F, wind 1-5 MPH, SSW (range faces due north), shot at 9am

    Re: Postal Match

Well isn't this nice? Our one and only range here, to 1k, just closed last week for the season. You'd think it was a drive-in. Seems the Military has declared that no battles will be fought in inclement weather.

But, if/when this is still up and running in the spring, would be nice to partake. Good to see this type of thing going on. Similar to the smiley/snowflake scenario.
