I'm working on a DPMS GII 24" Bull Barrel in .308. I'm going to be shooting coyotes, antelope, deer, prairie dogs and the occasional hog here in the high deserts of New Mexico. I'm looking at the Night Force SHV. What are some other options that you guys think might be a good option as well. As a life long trap shooter I'm new to this and just trying to find my way on what will be the first of a few builds. Thanks in advance for your help!

Cheers,

George

I would say something in the 3-15x range with a good FFP holdover reticle. That new Bushnell 3-12 LRHS might be just the ticket.

The Nightforce SHV is IDEAL for your usage.

PM Opticsspecialist and get it NOW!

I have the 2.5-10x42 NF on a bolt gun. Very Nice but built for warfare. The SHV is purpose built for your use.

Something in a 3x15 or 4x16 would be ideal. 2.5x10 would also work, but a little more magnification would come in handy if you really want to bomb it out there.

Any decent scope in that magnification range would be excellent.

I just picked up a 4.5x 14 I think its pretty good for a ar 308

Nice set up...what NF ultralight base are you using and by any chance do you know how much the base weighs? Is that a 56 Bell on your 4.5 x 14?

Do you have a electronic rabbit decoy or a wounded something that lives in the area? What about a electronic predetor call plus mouth calls as well??

The scope has a 50mm bell
not for sure the weight but the box it came in was heavier lol
Its the light weight 20moa unimount

Thanks Joseph...would you know the ring height model? sorry I should have mentioned that...I want to order that model.

Oop sorry forgot that part lol...
well mine is medium hight also just in case you dont know my rail cuts so the scope can be a little lower

Yes I see your rail has been cut to clear your 50 bell. I have a JP 2'' handrail without extended rail so I should be ok. Do you know if your height was a 1.125 or the 1.375 model. Your setup looks sick!! Awesome.

Lol oh im sorry im 99% sure its the 1.125

Oh and thanks for the compliments

Just put a mk6 3-18x on my SCAR17 and it's a great scope.

The Nightforce SHV are outstanding scopes for a DPMS LR308. The Nightforce SHV offer great glass, the MOAR reticle is great for long-range shooting and hunting, the turrets are positive and capped for the hunting environment,

The Nightforce SHV would be an outstanding scopes for a DPMS LR308. The Nightforce SHV offer great glass, the MOAR reticle is great for long-range shooting and hunting, the turrets are positive and capped for the hunting environment, the 30mm tube is going to aid in elevation, and the size of the scope is not bad. I really would like to get one for myself. Here is a link to them SHV cstactical. If we can be of help let me know.
