Power trimmer

Re: Power trimmer

Is the motor not covered under warranty on the dillon? I have used the Dillon RCBS and the Giraud. To tell you the truth I like the Dillon the best. I got the most consistent trim length with it. The Giraud is fast but just not as accurate. The powered RCBS is not even in the same league.

Was there really a question here?

Giraud.......

Re: Power trimmer

Like Doug said Head space. You're porbably using ratty old range brass like I did and each batch was slightly different. once you are using the brass from your weapon it will be primo...
I've been using myGiraud for about a month now and will never go back. Service is top notch, friendly, and swift, and the product is unreal.

Re: Power trimmer

I am going to disagree with everyone here and tell you to buy a Giraud.

Yes. It will trim your brass better than anything else made at any cost at this time.

The Giraud uses a single bit to chamfer inside and out while simultaneously trimming to length based on shoulder-to-neck, not OAL. That is why you need a consistent headspace dimension on your brass to get consistent OAL. I use a Mo's headspace gauge in conjunction with my sizing setup, so I get very consistent results both sizing and trimming. The Giraud runs about double the speed of the Gracey, so as long as you don't try and shove the brass thru the holder/cutter and use about a 1/4-1/2 turn when trimming, you get a very consistent cut on the brass.

I have used Dillon, RCBS with power and the 3-way cutter, Wilson (still have 2), Gracey with and w/o Giraud mods and a Giraud. I like the Giraud best.

Re: Power trimmer

I've had my Giraud for about a year, keep getting blisters from having to hold the brass so tight and it vibrating a lot in the machine. I now use thick leather gloves which helps. I've spoken/emailed Doug and was never able to come up with a solution with the LC brass I like to use. However it's still the best system out there if you are chamfering your brass. The Dillon setup is faster only if you don't need to chamfer the brass. I envy the people I see on youtube using their Giraud with bearly any effort to hold the brass.

use it more and your skin will toughen up

lol

I use some cheap examination gloves that may be latex or rubber from Harbor freight, and I only use LC brass and the gloves seem to keep a better grip on the bases

also + 22 on his trimmers, great product and fast shipping on all the cutter heads and case holders I have ordered

Re: Power trimmer

I bought a Giraud last April, due to the recommendations from the members here.I have been very happy with the results that I get from it.Just last week,I trimmed 300 cases on my lunch hour, and I had time to eat, too! Its a great machine, and Doug is a good guy to deal with. You do have to hold the case, and your fingers can get cramped a little. If you load any one caliber in volume, this is the way to go.Hope this helps, Pete
