Hunting & Fishing Prairie dog hunting in WY?

Hey all, i'm looking to do a trip with my father to shoot prairie dogs. I've settled on WY as the best place to go that is within a reasonable driving distance.

Are there any outfitters you'd recommend?

If not, any recommendations on places to go and stay to hunt?

I can tell you I go to a ranch in Souther Wy near Saratoga and the last two years there have been almost no Pdogs as there was a plague that killed most of them. I go again in a month and hope they are back but shot very few the last two years. Good luck PG

Extremely mild winter this year, PDs are back and in force.

Contact the Rockin7 Ranch. I hunted with them a few years back for dogs and it was a great trip. Food and lodging is first class. Ranch is about 20 sq miles big. Guides were very friendly and good. I highly recommend them

It's been 4 years since I was there but I think around $500 per day including meals, drinks and lodging. More than I would like to pay but when you are traveling 1800 miles it is Inc eto know that you have a respectable place to hunt, shooting benches, food and whatever else you need to hunt. You can even ship ammo to them ahead of time and ship left over ammo back home. They even have an fil and can have your rifles shipped in and out if you want. I only shot one day with my son but we had just over 800 rounds fired from 2 bolt action rifles. Plenty of action

HOLY SHIT i didnt know there was that kinda money in them.but if your not from around places that have them i guess its not to bad.And any time spent with your child in the field is great.

This was the most legal fun I have ever had. It is unlimited, unknown distance, long range shooting. You have multiple targets all day at any range. We shot from 30 yds to 908 yds. The morning started with very little wind and the afternoon ended with 25 to 30 mph wind. I would think there would be few other ways to make your long range shooting any better than the practice you get shooting dogs

Negative. Legal to own but not to have in the field (I.e. hunting). Had to call the DA up in Cheyenne to get the issue buttoned down. Doesn't matter what game you are shooting they don't allow them, unless I missed some recent legislation.

We just got back from our prairie dog trip and it was a little unsettling at how many we didn't see. compared to other years it was a disapointing trip. I guess you win some and you lose some. good luck all the same.

Pretty much the same results for us, though we were in SD.

I second that, although their wording is very confusing and vague in the legislation itself. I have attempted to contact the DNR about it several times with no success. Did that DA give any other insight past "it's illegal," involving their wording about the use of suppressors "in game fields" when a prairie dog is a non-game species thus a dog town should not be considered a game field?
