Ok, I see some people refer to there being a problem with pre-02 Leupold scopes. I did a search, and got slammed with a million threads, but nothing that tells me why people shy away from pre-02 Leupold, other then there are problems.

If you don't mind, please educate me with the issues of these scopes.

Thanks!

Re: Pre-02 Leupold info requested

My father bought a Leupold 3-9x in the late 60's-early 70's. mounted it a Weatherby .270mag. That scope was taken off the rifle only to have the action re-barreld. I can't truely think that Leupold make scopes like that any more. Back in an age when made in america on a Leuplod ment something outstanding, and unmatched by anyone.

Alpine,

I agree, pre-2002 Leupold stuff is generally better than post-2002. Of course in my view all Leupold tactical stuff features state-of-art design technology appropriate for 1990, not 2010.

With their introduction of FFP and M5 turrets they are vaulting themselves all the way to 2005 technology, abet with 2010 prices.

IMHO and YMMV,
