Precision ar-10 build questions

A Krieger or bartlein from compass lake is just as accurate or more so as anything from Craddock or jp. Also the $675 at compass lake is the assembled price using a Krieger or bartlein tube.

Lol. Bud I've had more barrels than I can count from Frank, JP, Craddock and Keystone. No, they arent more accurate. They are just as accurate, but more expensive and dont include a bolt. Frank makes great stuff, I've had many barrels from Frank and chat with him all the time. Ll

I’m not your bud, friend lol
To clarify is said just as accurate or more so. I’ve had a lot of barrels from all you’ve had except keystone and the 2 most accurate ar rifle barrels I’ve had were both Kriegers and both from CLE. I’m not saying the others don’t do good work, I’m saying no one does better work than they do on average. And for $675 using a Krieger or bartlien barrel assembled on ur upper while reusing your existing bolt , if in good shape, isn’t a bad price.

Lmfao. What's your sample size? Your 2 barrels isnt in the same league as the amount of barrels I've shot from ALL the companies I've mentioned.

Nobody said anything about a BAD price. I provided info for BETTER pricing WITH a matching bolt or without for CHEAPER using the EXACT same barrel blanks you mention.

Now go get your fucking shine box.

2 barrels. Ur cute. I’ve also talked the guys at compass lake although I’m not friends with them like you are. Are you catholic? I suppose the pope has your cell number on speed dial too since your buddies and all.

It’s petty to advertise on a forum how much you may or may not talk to someone.

When you're a Staff Member and have or had reviewed/tested barrels for all of these companies mentioned your interaction and experience with them is routine.

Do your research.

In regards to accuracy, how does the carbon fiber Proof Research 22-24" 6.5 CM, compare to the Craddock or CLP 6.5 CM Bartlien barrels?
Thanks

When I built my 308 I used a JP barrel and I'm extremely happy with it. It's sub moa and I'm not sure you can go wrong with JP. I've only heard good things about Craddock and CLE. When I order the barrel from Bartein for my AR-15 build it will be going to CLE for them to finish the work on the barrel. If I wasn't going with a custom Bartlein barrel then I would look at JP again.

One thing to watch out for is making sure you keep everything to the same standards. Unlike AR-15s not everything in the large frame market is compatible with everything else. Course maybe you have already factored that into your build already.

Not sure what others have said, Didnt really want to spend the time reading the entire thread.

I have had good luck with a jp barrel in .223 wylde with a headspaced bolt. Got it on another forum for a very good price and its been great. While it not being an "ar10" caliber i can still tell you their quality is top notch. I've never really read anything bad on here from anyone for that matter either. Only input i have on anything besides factory barrels.

In terms of caliber, I started my long range game with a tikka ctr .308 had a 20" barrel. I was able to make hits pretty easy out to distance, but once wind picked up i noticed passed 800 yds it would be difficult for me since MY SKILL LEVEL WAS low. Fast forward to today, I have an Armalite .308 with an armalite factory barrel. Shoots around 1-1.25moa and im fine with that. Its a 16' gun that i run suppressed with an adjustable gas system. I dont really take it out beyond 600 yds, but it works very well out to that distance. I do have a 24" tikka in 6.5cm sitting in a chassis. It is very easy to shoot half moa with this gun(probably bolt vs semi, and tikkas barrels are more accurate). I will say going out beyond 800yds (shot out to 1200) is much easier with the 6.5cm. This has been beat to death on most forums but it is true that wind calls are easier. Again, i have no formal training in long distance shooting, just stuff ive picked up online. I use a kestrel 5700, and get my velocities from a labradar. The 6.5 just has better ballistics period.

So to make a long story short, if you want to shoot anything beyond 800yds i would probably look at the 6.5cm. If you want to shoot under that i would look at .308 for cost savings. I can find 168gr/175gr fgmm for around $16 a box. Whereas match grade 6.5 usually runs me about $24/box. Be realistic with yourself. Are you going to shoot so much that the cost savings apply? Are you really going to be skilled enough to use the extra accuracy out of a top of the line barrel? Lots of factors to consider. Also, if you are new to long range shooting most of the higher end barrel manufactures are going to shoot better than you can PERIOD. My guns shoot great, when I shoot great. My guns shoot like poop, when i shoot like poop. Im sure if someone with more experience and formal training were to get behind my guns they would shoot even better more consistently. The more you get behind the gun and shoot the better it will shoot with you behind it.

Good luck, and shoot often.

my experience in 308 gas guns has been somewhat tumultuous. I built an Aero M5 with all premium parts except I went cheap on the barrel... bought a Ballistic Advantage 308 bull barrel 20 inch. It failed the No-Go gauge and field gauge. Sent it back. The replacement failed the No go. Ended up getting a refund and picked up a Criterion 24 inch bull barrel from Fulton Armory. It shot ok. Occasionally sub minute but more often than not 1-2 MOA. After 2,000 round of mediocrity I finally bit the bullet and got a Bartlein from Craddock
