Has anyone heard of Precision Bluing out of Creedmoor, NC? I am wanting to get my Colt Woodsman 1st series refinished in high luster blue like it was from the factory. Precision Bluing is about 5 hours from me and 30 minutes from Raleigh where my son lives.

Does anyone have other recommendations? This gun doesn't need restoring, only refinishing as it is really smooth with no pitting, just missing about 50% or more of the blue.

Thanks for all who can help.

I had Gary Reeder refinish a Ruger Bisley for me last year.
Unlike yours, mine was pitted and scratched. It had to be blocked, blended and polished.
I also had an action job and new grips made.

He can do the very dark black like mine or a standard Colt or S&W high polish blue.

His turn around time is pretty quick too.
I sent the Bisley to him at the end of December and got it back before mid Feb.

If you wait until December, he has his daily Christmas sale items and bluing is always on the menu.

Mike, that looks fantastic. You are correct in that mine is not near as bad.

goatboy, that's the plan. If I like what I see I plan on leaving the gun. You know what they say, word of mouth is the best advertisement.

I looked at their site and, while the photos are pretty rudimentary, the work looks promising. I'd want to get a good sense of the relationship between polishing and bluing luster, they give a sense in the price matrix but it would be nice to see with it means on a real piece.

Great project, have fun with it
