I M also Interrested in a courses. There is a shop in coupertino called kurlies. The owner is a 8541. He puts on a class over the weekend in colinga ,ca. Last time I looked into his class it is 500.00 plus ammo. I believe it is a

Re: Precision shooting schools in California.

If your in the SoCal area there are a couple of options that I know of.

1. California Precision Rifle Club
http://www.caprc.com/site/Welcome.html
For those who don't have a boat load of money this is a great group to shoot with and they have clinics that will get you up to speed. I have not shot with them "YET" but I hear great things about them.

2. Spartan Tactical
http://www.spartantactical.com/Precision_Rifle_Pala_CA_Flyer.html
Spartan Tactical comes out to the Pala range in SD from time to time and does 3 day training courses. I have not taken this course either but have heard great things about it.

3. Magpul Dynamic
http://www.magpuldynamics.com/training/precision1.shtml
I have noticed that Magpul now has a Precision Rifle course.
We might be able to get the instructor down here to SoCal if enough people were interested and wanted to put money down.

How many people do we need to get the Magpul class here in socal and where in socal. We have some nice ranges here in Ridgecrest but if you have a better place and any ideas shoot me a PM and lets get this together if we can.

Re: Precision shooting schools in California.

I will email Jill at Magpul and get some details. I am thinking Pala might be the best place because you can reach out to almost 1k yards. The only thing about Pala is they will most likely only offer up the range Monday thru Thursday. They have competitions scheduled every weekend.

Also there are plenty of places to stay near the range since several casinos are close by.

I will ask what the head count needs to be and if the instructor who I am sure lives in WA is willing to travel south to teach. Will update when I can.

Re: Precision shooting schools in California.

If you can make it to Sacto or TX, Rifle's Only has a first class program. Vu also has clinics at the Sacto facility.

I heard Seth teaches the classes with the SoCal club, he was 8541 and a good guy.

If I can get Clint from Kopf Jager LLC to come down to SoCal, he could do a PR class at Pala, he was 8541 8 years. He is also certified to teach at the (Las Vegas) Clark County Range. All our teaching has been around Reno the last few years, but he has talked about coming south to do some teaching.

Here is a link to a course we are doing next month:
http://www.stormtactical.com/training.htm

We also do some classes here in Vegas on BLM land from time to time... I'm helping out with a PR class outside of Las Vegas tomorrow. I'll post up some pics if I get a chance.

I was at Jim Smith's last class at Pala, that's a nice area to shoot.

Lots of options out there for you.

Re: Precision shooting schools in California.

Here's an additional training resource for handgun, rifle, shotgun etc. The courses start from beginner and go all the way up to shooting out of moving vehicles etc....

but... they cost! They're held at Angeles Shooting Range in Sylmar.

http://www.internationaltactical.com/index.html

If anyone has a spot in the desert or just wants to go out shooting in the desert with steel/paper targets then I'm up for that starting May/June time.

BTW - Wes Thompson's Range in Piru, CA also goes out to 1,000yds

Cheers!

oh nice. im a member at the pala range ill have to ask about that. thanks

Re: Precision shooting schools in California.

Just search their forum like you would this one...all the info is there. They hold their matches monthly at the Angeles Shooting Range which i believe is where they do most of their shooting. As well, they do clinics to give back and help people in the shooting community new or seasoned, they are not a company that does it to make a solid profit.

Re: Precision shooting schools in California.

For someone just getting started, and who doesn't have a lot of time or money you might check out the CMP GSM Clinics, they normally only charge $20 (if that) and are one day courses on weekends. They are taught by CMP GSM Master Instructors.

Check the list for California for one close to you.

Re: Precision shooting schools in California.

Looking for shooting school? Try internationaltactical.com. Its located in Los Angeles and is about 500.00 bucks. They have 3courses for precision rifles. Its a 2 day class which is held on a Saturday and Sunday. I was going to attend the class coming up in November but chose the rifles only class coming up in Sacramento. Check them out.

stoic ventures teaches precision in San Jose area. classes are built on teaching proper fundamentals. They occasionally run multi day clinics out to e.l.r. in the Paso Robles area with hog hunts after shooting instruction.

instructor, Mike Lamb, cofounded Magpul Dynamics after retiring from active duty with multiple combat tours as a HOG/Marine Raider.

to say he knows what he is doing, is an enormous understatement.

www.stoicventures.com

Mike Lamb is a fake when it comes to that. He was never a Recon Marine, never a Scout Sniper. http://www.breachbangclear.com/mike-lamb-comes-clean/

Never heard of this guy before but he sounds like a real shit bag, I thought the guy who founded Magpul was in Recon so I'm surprised he would've hired him.

OP if you're able to swing it go to the Rifles Only course in Sacramento, if I still lived in California I'd probably go.

As previously mentioned the California Precision Rifle Club may be a good option, they run clinics every now and then. I have never shot with them but the founder is great guy who is very knowledgeable when comes to precision shooting and he's also an excellent gunsmith.
