I've exhausted my Google-fu so I figured I'd just ask the question directly:

What are the opinions of the suppressor crowd about the ideal length barrel for a 260 Rem? I'm thinking SAS Arbiter or AAC Cyclone/Cyclone-K for my very first can but not sold on any particular unit yet.

My current barrel is 26" long and I get 3000fps with the 130gr Berger VLD; while I'm not planning to run-and-gun tactical comps I know that 34"+ will be way, WAY too long.

Re: Preferred/optimium barrel length: 260 with can?

Think of it this way:

Will the addition of a can in any way effect the velocity of my current barrel length?

Perhaps, some cans can slightly increase the velocity.

So, if I am currently getting what I want out of my current barrel length do I have to change anything to add a suppressor?

No.

If I was to take my barrel and shorten it on a 260 to 20" or 22" what would I anticipate seeing in velocity changes?

22 inch can result in 2875 ft/sec with a 120 Barnes TSX bullet while the 20 inch barrel produced 2750 with the exact same load (47.0 grains of RL-19).

22 inch can result in 2914ft/sec or 2778 with the 20 inch barrel with the exact same load, 120 TSX bullet and 47 .5 grains of RL-19.

Or...

I think you have another question to ask as well. Namely, "If I choose to shoot sub sonics as well, what are the requirements?"

I shoot a 20" .260 suppressed in both ss and sub.

Hope that helps.
