Prefit barrels for Bighorn Arms TL3 Action

Altus was pretty quick with my 18" m24 6.5 creed "shouldered prefit" also shoots sub 1/2 moa. Local smith that is very reputable lives here so i had him do me a 6creedmoor. He had my tl3 in hand and it shoots a touch tighter but its a 26" heavy palma and a 6 so it tames recoil a lil better. Both were done in around 2 weeks.
The M24 is heavier than a Heavy Palma so the recoil although almost immeasurable would normally be less on your M24 and it is only lighter because you picked an extremely short barrel.

Well the 18" m24 is 8 inches shorter so it comes in .5 lbs lighter if i remember right and its a 6 vs a 6.5. Between those 2 factors there is definitely a little less recoil but not like huge difference or anything just enough to notice.

Saw that, and went back into the post. Are you using the M24 as a brush/scout rifle if you don't mind me asking?
Yes sir, kind of a do all with the 18" on it its still damn near 15 lbs loaded with bipod and supressor but it handles much lighter ( I think due to balance point). Cool thing is it still puts 1k lbs of energy on target out to just over 600yds.... so i play with it on paper some and use it for critter control also.

Not likely. I've been running a pair of them since they first came out and have at least 5000 rounds through that gun. I admit they need to be cleaner than an Accurate Mag to run flawless, but I just clean them out with towel every once in a while and they run fine. They also seem smoother and are easier to single feed off an empty mag compared to some of the others. While I do know others who have had problems, the 3 TL3s in my house work great with ARC mags. Dunno, maybe I'm just lucky...

Ordered a Proof 223W Heavy Palma for my TL3. Really excited to start playing with it in a month and a half. It's hard to beat the Experticity pricing for a chambered and threaded prefit from Proof.

Killed a barrel and on my way to killing a 2nd using only ARC mags in my TL3 without a single hick-up. They've never been cleaned either. I know I'm in the minority here, though.

Guessing you don't spend much time shooting in the elements then because nobody I know can make them feed with even a tiny bit of dirt or dust exposure, if they aren't 'brand new' clean they jam.

It's not very dusty in south FL but I do shoot rain or shine. They aren't babied. Like I said, though, I know I'm in the minority.

OP, I can let you know next year, sorry. I've burned through a couple Bart Dasher barrels spun up by @bohem (PVA) and they're lasers. He just spun me a Proof SS Dasher barrel I'll use next year. I'm sure it'll shoot too.

As for mags, all three of my TL3's have loved straight ARC mags feeding everything from 6BR to .308 without a hiccup. I tried the BR kits and just ended up not needing them. They run in Manners, MPA and AICS chassis.

I appreciate it. Does your TL3 have the AW, or the AICS cut?

I would call and talk to them at proof they had some tooling they were changing around for my last barrel (16 weeks). The ones before this one took about 6-8 weeks. I basically just always have a proof barrel in the build que lol. New competition contour is fun also it's basically a truck axle lol.

Last two proof barrels I have gotten are excellent barrels, especially given the price.

What retailer did you get them through?

I just had Mile High spin up 6 Creedmoor and 6 BRA barrels in the left hand gain twist. Both went into TL3 actions. They shoot lights out. I just needed to get an action wrench and torque it down to 80 ft/lbs.

JP Enterprises Coupon code: 43SS1015

10% off accessories.

What contour/twist rate/length did you have them spin and what was the freight on the barrel getting made?

Unless you are a military veteran, law enforcement officer, NRA instructor, or you work in an Expertcity registered industry related organization, or retail.

Ya that’s not me. I may get in touch with Altus to see if they can order me one. Anyone know what the freight is on a prefit? SS or Carbon...

I can't remember the specifics. The barrels go from 8+ to 7.6. Both in heavy palma. Cut down to 26". $850 with free shipping.

6mm Barrel .237x.243, 5R, "T" Style 8.7 - 7.662 twist, SS, Bartlein #12 Hvy Palma but .900" @26" finish send 27" blank, Left Hand Twist

Roger that! I’m looking for a m24 or mtu profile to get this done. I had MH spin me a 224V LHGT in a sendero contour and the thing is a hammer. They have great smiths over there.

Has anyone actually used one of the proof prefits?
I hear great things about their barrels.
Looking for info about the chambering and throat length stuff like that.

I use a proof CF prefit for the bighorn origin. I believe it took a little over a month to get (ordered through experticity). Shoots great, broke in very easily and haven't had any real issues at all with it. Mine's a 6.5 creed just fyi.

Check Altus. I just got a competition contour in .223 wilde proof profit for a TL3. They had them in stock. Pretty sure they had Origin as well.
