Rifle Scopes Premier 5-25 MTC

Been doing a lot of reading about Premier because I just recently got one but havent found what I'm looking for. I had seen a video/pictures of a scope where you could disable MTC. I havent had this scope long enough to know if Im not gonna like MTC or not, I'm just curious if disabling it would be an option. Just goofing around with it, any of the .1 after the MTC is pretty hard to hit for me.

On another note, this is one of the first Premiers made and I was curious if it still stacks up well against all the new scopes hitting the market? Besides this I have only had a NF NXS and a Steiner with MSR so my "high end" knowledge is limited other than what I read on here. Didnt end up caring to much for the MSR thickness and got the Premier with the Gen2 XR and like it so far. Just dont see to much on the boards anymore about the Premiers.

You own one of the best scopes on the market, vintage stacks up against the "new" Premiers. The full mil clunk takes sone getting used to, but it is IMO one of the best feeling turrets out there, the best feeling MTC to me.

Yes, still one of the best scopes on the market. Very few can compete. The MTC must be removed by Paul Lange at Theta Tangent.

If you have the luxury of time, affirmative and controlled application of force will yield that first 1/10 after a full MIL. If you're counting, roll through them quickly and then come back one.

ps - I have an early 3-15 - yes I think they compare favorably to most any other optic out there (I have S&B). That said check it for parallax issues and yes you really do have to use Badger rings; might even need to send it back to have the lenses ground just a wee bit. I fought with mine for a while using LT mounts and Smith rings. Finally gave up, sent it back to be ground, and went to BO rings (but I'd be willing to bet Seekins will work too). From what I have read I they were designed exclusively around the BO ring and they are sensitive to width and roundness specs that fall outside of design standards, which in turn create a deviation in clamping forces - thereby binding the parallax adj. Once remedied / set up - they work as advertised.

This, as well as the 'Nunya' parts sourcing question pissed a lot of folks off. If they can always be repaired by someone at a reasonable cost even as the company fades out, they likely represent a good value on the secondary market as there is so much bad press on them that they (particularly the early ones) do not hold their value.

Thanks for the info, I have mine mounted in ARC M10's and dont seem to have a problem. I dont know the history on the scope so maybe it was already sent in and addressed. I called Tangent Theta just to hear with my own ears that they would cover any problems, but hopefully I wont ever have to use that service.

Just as an FYI. If you remove the turret cap (just unscrew the toggle all the way and pull the cap off) you can see the mechanism that controls the clicks for both MTC and normal. Modify as needed to suit your needs. Pic is of underside of cap, the heavier lines are where the MTC part of the clickers engages and the small lines are where the .1 clicks are. On the side if the scope where the cap covers are the clickers that engage into the detent lines.

I like the MTC it helps me get out to distance quickly and helps me find 0 really quick. You can make it so it does not have the 1 MRAD click.

I just sent a 3-15 off to Paul and he fixed it and had it shipped back I'm about a week. Pretty good in my book. It is an older model and he said it needed new clickers and toggles. It has excellent clicks now. I was so happy with it, I now have a 5-25 and another one on the way.

I have looked thru and owned pretty much every high end optic available on the market today and Premier has some of the best glass bar none. I can't wait to see what their Tangent Theta upgrades are gonna look like, supposedly same great glass but with a larger exit pupil for a better so called "eye box"

If you decide you don't like MTC, all you need to do is remove the turret cap, remove the top plate from the turret, and pull out the top detent pin that provides the MTC click.

Another option is to file down the tip of the detent pins (a LITTLE) until you achieve the click feel you're after. Premier's clicks are usually too crisp/sharp/abrupt for my taste, but with a bit of finagling, become some of the best in the business.

No big deal, doesn't even need to go to Paul.

I have a Gen 2 Vortex on order and I was planning on selling this scope to fund it when it came in but now I'm having some serious second thoughts. I'm sure it'll all work out lol

If you ever need another scope like that, give me a call for a Tangent Theta. They have even better turrets/clicks than your Premier. (if you can imagine that!) I too absolutely love the heavy clicks at the full mil marks.

If you don't mind my asking was your older Premier covered under warranty with no cost to you besides shipping charges or were there fees involved?
