Rifle Scopes Premier Heritage scope doesn't work with AI mount?

I just recieved a Premier Heritage 3-15X50 from Liberty Optics and it doesn't seem to fit into my factory Accuracy International 1-piece 28 MOA base/rings. The bottom of the turret housing is too low and it seems to bottom out. Anyone else encounter this problem?

Yes! Same thing happened to me and I ended up going with a set of the Badger SASR 306-76 rings to mount on the pic rail. If you have the standard reciever mount and not the pic rail, it won't work. The Badger rings are tall and had plenty of clearance for the turret body, but still barely had enough clearance for the objective bell. I lost the mount cant I wanted, but there is probably enough adjustment on these scopes that it won't matter. Another alternative might be the ARMS quick mount, but I didn't try that one personally.
These are great scopes, but they are absolutely HUGE and the turret body is much bigger than on the S&B scopes and it creates a clearance problem that I was unaware of. Probably wouldn't hurt to get the word out on that for this reason.

Super,
I had thought about machining clearance for the turret housing on the 18 degree AI pic rail mount I was planning to use, but it looked like the clamping bar on that is quite a bit higher than the clamping bar on the 28 degree AI dovetail mount that I have for another rifle, and would have cut into the clamp right in the area of the middle clamping screw, which I though might create a weak point that could lead to bending when it was torqued down. Maybe Stacey can check both types of mounts and let us know. I sure would have rather used the AI mount!

YMMV but here is what I ended up doing;

I took a section of pic rail which was actualy an AR riser and clamped my AI mount onto it at 65 in/lbs on all three clamping bar screws using my seeknot t-handle wrench. I clamped the mount in my mill vice and leveled it on paraell bars. Once everything was set up I milled the needed clearance and then refinished the mount using alumahide.

Now the logic here was that by clamping the mount onto a pic rail and torquing in the same manner as it would be attached it would mate up he same on the rifle. The result was just that. I would not suggest trying to mill the clamping bar and the mount as two separate parts as the clamping bar when attached has an ever so slight cant in relation to the opposing side of the mount. By machining them together clamped onto a rail you will retain a nice flat surface when mounted without having any weird angles.

Sorry I would have posted pics but I sold that rig last year.

I have a 28 MOA base and I think I'm possibly gonna do the milling thing. I'd like to keep the AI base as I removed the scope to do barrel changes and the AI mount holds zero after I change barrels. I'm considering trying the possible fixes:
1) Mill the base as noted above
2) try a 0 degree AI base
3) get Badger rings
4) Utilize a Larue 50 BMG one piece mount(no that you need it but it comes with 30 MOA incline, is made for 34mm scopes and has 3 locking levers)
At first I was considering returning the scope, but after playing with it for a few mintues I decided that I prefer some of the features of the Premier Heritage scope over the S&B, especially the quickly adjustable turrets. I've owned many S&B scopes and the Premier line seems to be very similar in quality.

Thanks to all who replied. We are going to machine the base tomorrow and I should be in business. This is what I love about the Hide', the ability to share ideas and get good answers is awesome.
