The jury is still out on MIL/MOA but there seems to be a choice coming for Premier Reticle Scopes. I was recently at a long range rifle course and there was some pretty hot debate about MIL vs MOA. When the shooter is MIL and the spotter is MOA there is bound to be confusion. I just got off the phone with Chris at Premier and he told me that by the end of June, or so, they'll have a kit to convert my Premier Heritage 5-25 x 56 mm Tactical from MILS to MOA. $90. Not bad. I'll be able to go back and forth and see which I like the best on the same scope.

Re: Premier Reticle in MOA

Sounds like a good way to wind up confused.

If you have a mil reticle, then it's easier to have mil turrets. Same with MOA. Pick a reticle you like, and get turrets to match. No point in making life harder than it has to be.

Re: Premier Reticle in MOA

If the scope is MIL and the spotter MOA, it's time to get a new reticle in the spotter. I've never understood the desire for mismatched indicators or why scope manufacturers even offer them. Premier should stick with Mils and leave the confusion to other companies.

Re: Premier Reticle in MOA

MOA/MOA would be ok if PR would convert the knobs and clicks along with the reticle for you. But, at that point you might as well just learn Mils.

It should be pointed out, there aren't many MOA spotters out there--this is more often a problem the other way around.

Re: Premier Reticle in MOA

That's arguably true for military and LE shooters, but reputable manufacturers make scopes with reticles graduated in MOA, and will probably continue to. It's hard to imagine, but there are people who seem to like them...

it is, but unfortunately civilian sales tend to drive the tactical community more than the LE / Military sales. They are still using things like Duplex reticles on the LE side of the house and the military is pretty much settled to take any package scope delivered with their rifles, with very little rhyme or reason needed.

MOA should be going the way of the Dodo bird, but too many mis-informed people feel they have to "think" in either Imperial or Metric terms so the MOA continues to survive, hopefully to die another day.

But hey if it makes them happy, more power to em.
