Has anyone tried to put a Butler Creek cap on the ocular with any success? Is it doable? Or does the lock/adjustment ring make it too difficult?

Why? The one that comes with it is better, and the Butler Creek wouldn't fit well over the raised edge anyway.

They are a striking example of over-engineering.
The POS covers should be tossed as far and as fast as possible. The let in a TON of dust and water and the minute you carry your rig slung, the ocular cover pops off.
IMO the ONLY problem with the PRH 5-25 is the ocular cover. IT CAN BE FIXED!! First, focus your reticle and lock down the lock ring. Then take a No 17 butler creek ocular cover and stick it is a sealed ziploc freezer bag, and stick in a put of boiling water for a 30 seconds or so--in order to make more pliable the BC--but keep it dry (hence the ziploc). While the BC is still hot, sling it on over the eyepiece and past the locking ring until it is fully seated and straight. Leave it open and let it cool off before you close it so you don't cause any condensation, and you are done, and it ends up looking like this.
Hot water is a tight fitting BC's friend!

I'm curious - what in your opinion makes the Premier Ocular cover better than a Butler Creek, especially when fitted as <span style="font-style: italic">19Scout77</span> described above?

I usually don't notice the Premier cover until I've noticed that its fallen off somewhere between firing points during a match, or I notice it when I open it and there's dust on the lens, because it doesn't do its job of keeping the dust out.
Your TAB cover pops open your BC caps? Then it should be ripping off your PR cap, because the cap on my PR falls off when I pull a shamagh tossed over the rifle off of it.....
