SWFA have Premier's 1.1-8 listed at $2900. If that price is correct it will force some competition into the 1-(n) market. From the reviews Premier's 1.1-8 looked like it had one of the better reticles.

Just confirmed with SWFA that the $2.9k price for the Premier is correct.

The new price for the S&B is $3.6k and the Leupold Horus reticle version is $4k

Re: Premier's 1.1-8

Well I'd buy one today if that's the price, but I'm wondering if we will even see that scope released this year. Did they happen to give you an eta...?

I seem to remember claims that S&B was going to undercut the CQBSS so bad Leupold would no longer exist.....what happened?????

The person I spoke to at SWFA told me that the scope was being released in March and that the website was correct. The person seemed to know what they were talking about. Maybe someone else should call to double check.

Awesome scope though. </div></div>

its a true 1-8 now as well it has been totally redesigned from last year.

Re: Premier's 1.1-8

One thought, IOR releases 2 versions of their 1-10's within 10 months of a SHOT debut, (MAP's of $2100 SFP and $2850 FFP), and everyone slams them for being too heavy, reticle not bright enough, etc..... Now both S&B and Premier have offered vaporware for 2 years and there is no apparent uproar, and now at a much higher price that originally quoted. I am not saying that anyone should buy the IOR, but some kudos should be given for their work bringing a fairly sophisticated scope to market in a reasonable timeframe. I own Premiers and an S&B so I am not a hater or an IOR fanboy, just sharing an observation.

YMMV

Maybe that person at SWFA should let Premier in on the secret then, or maybe they just told you what you wanted to hear.

The fact is this. Way too many companies trot out their vaporware at SHOT. Vendors jump on the bandwagon with amazing "street" pricing and their fan boys can't stop talking it up. Which is amusing in the sense that the fanboys then ultimately get left high and dry by the very companies they were trying to blow on the forums.

CD,

Don't bother with facts, he'll choose rumor and opinion and chirp it all day long

Re: Premier's 1.1-8

As bth87 pointed out, there is a new version, which is a true 1-8, not the earlier 1.1-8 version. So both "stories" are correct. SWFA apparently is talking about the 1.1 version, while those quoting Premier would have to be referring to the new 1 version. Apparently a lot of money to get that last 1/10th magnification out of there!

Ain't that the truth.......

Re: Premier's 1.1-8

I understand that there are a lot of costs associated with the innovative research and development of these new 1-8X scopes but for the projected civilian user market, i.e. 3-gunners and the recreational shooter at $3K-4K price tags who is fighting to get into line to purchase these optics? I could understand coughing up that much or more if it was for a long gun with higher magnification but when you are already investing $2K+ in your weapons platform what’s the cost benefit verses putting it toward ammo, training, and real range time?

Re: Premier's 1.1-8

I think Premier, and S&B both saw how much Leupold was getting for theirs and changed the price. Leupold used a skimming technique for pricing, as they had the only one out or still do. What will happen is one of the companies will lower the price to what it should be and the rest will follow(if they care to do so, meaning no mil contracts).

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: frankythefly</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Actually looks like either yesterday or today they dropped about $500 for all the Mark 8 CQBSS models and introduced a new one with a regular mil dot. </div></div>

It's still really expensive for what it is. I'm thinking the Mk6 will force makers to rethink pricing on their 1-8s. I also guess as production intelligence improves we might see some lowering of prices as efficiencies are born.

What are the best prices you're seeing for the CQBSS models now?

Re: Premier's 1.1-8

The price on the CQBSS will remain high as long as its the only viable option for a higher power 1-(n)x FFP scope with a reticle that is usable for windage and elevation hold-overs, that isn't tied to one single caliber. The IOR is awesome feature-wise, but it needs to shed 10 oz. to make it more usable for off-hand shooting. So, Leupold is enjoying it's monopoly at the moment.

Remember, this is the first generation of this kind of optic and it has yet to mature feature-wise. It hasn't clicked with many companies that all of the features that are hot in the sniper scopes also offer the same advantages in this kind of optic, and that users who are familiar with those features and the advantages of them, want them.

You're better off picking up one of the moderately priced 1-6x offerings right now and waiting to see where the features and the prices go next year.

Re: Premier's 1.1-8

PR is not making the 1.1-8x anymore they will be making the 1-8x. It is a lot nice than what they had. I'm told they will be in the high $3k range.

From what I saw I really like them.

As for Leupold I was told their Mark 8 CQBSS 1.1-8x24mm (34mm) M5B1, Matte, Illum. Front Focal Mil Dot MAP at $3599.99, M-TMR $3999.99 and H-27D $4599.99.

This is correct, the 1.1-8 is not the final product- it will be the 1-8 and as Mike said it will be in the high 3K range available in dealers around Sept.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Premier's 1.1-8

Damn that thing is awesome! It looks smaller. How much does it weigh now?

Put the Gen2 XR in it instead of that mildot and it kills the CQBSS. It would give us complete commonality with the PH's we're running on our precision rigs.

Re: Premier's 1.1-8

So, you reduced it in length by nearly 1" and dropped 1.5 oz. Turrets look to be lower profile. What else has changed aside from the magnification?
