OK, My rifle has a 95 palma chamber with .055 freebore and 1 in 10 twist. I shot a few rounds of 168 grain FGMM the other day, The second round blew the primer right out of the pocket, the other pieces of brass have extractor marks, and a pronounced bulge around the firing pin dent. Bolt wasn't stuck or anything but the brass definitely has signs of over pressure IMO.. Headspace checks out fine..

Any ideas?

CH,

It is my understanding that 1995 Palma chambers have very short throats, made for 155 grain Palma ammo. The 168's could be jammed in your throat. Do a chamber cast and see.

Of course bad ammo, even from Federal, is always a possibility .

CH,

Well then, it's the ammo. I got some bad federal Premium 35 Whelen ammo that blew primers in a factory rifle. Sent two box's back along with the fired cases, and got a case of a new lot back from Federal.

Stuff happens.....

Re: Pressure signs from FGMM

Last year I had some 168 FGMM do the exact same thing to me, blowing half of the primers in the box. The brass was wrecked, too. It was the older white and blue box though; I tried the newer boxes and the pressure was fine. Shot like shit though, over about five boxes, which is odd.
