Price check

There is a Remington 700P in my local classifieds. Comes with a bipod(brand unknown), two piece base and rings(brand unknown), and a Redfield LE 9 scope. Asking $600, I offered less and the owner came back with $575. Is this a good price for this gun ?

What shape is it in. New, used? I don't think you would get hurt buying it for that price unless it's beat up.

It is used. Seller says it has a few hundred rounds through it but it us very clean. I am going to look at it in the morning.

It sounds like a pretty good deal, if it's in decent shape. See if he'll let you put a few rounds through it to see how it shoots

Well I picked it up this morning. It is not pristine, but not really beat either. Has the bumps and bruises you would expect on a six year old rifle that has seen hunting and target use. I took it to the range this afternoon and could not even hit paper at 50 yards ! it took 16 rounds to get it where I wanted it, so this is just a 4 shot group, and only at 50 yards.

I know I need to work on my shooting skills, but I think the gun will be a decent shooter.
