I need help priceing a 98K BYF 44 non matching Russian Capture. The Nazi stuff is pinged out and it is missing the front sight hood and has no sling. The gun is non matching. What if any value is there in this gun besides re barreling it and sporterizing it. I can't get my picture to upload I will be able to tomorrow

Anything Nazi related, even if it is pinged out, has sky rocketed in price over the last few years. Pictures would help price it, but I would say 250-300 range maybe a little more, but again pictures would help. I recently traded one of my pinged RC's + about $50 for a very good condition Remington 1903a3 receiver, bolt assay., trigger assay. and everything else minus the barrel and wood. Take that for what is worth, but I was happy with the deal, and so was the other guy.

OK Here is the picture

Here is a pic that I managed to take quickly before work
hope this helps
And yes that couch is ugly,it was a hand me down for my man cave

Well I hate to say it, but it looks like it may be on the lower end of that price range. I still think they are a great piece of history. Hold on to it for a bit, in 20-30 years even the worst looking RC's will be worth a nice chunk of change.

NON MATCHING and pinged = $250 ish. Your rifles condition (repairs in stock) would sell for $150 ish. The repairs would scare a ton of people, even the guys just wanting a wall hanger.

Somebody will buy it and be happy at what ever price you sell it for. Just have to find them.

Good luck!

THat must be a bad pic because there is no stock repair on it, its solid, dry but solid there are no cracks or even dings. What am I missing?

He is referring to the two bolts that have been installed to help hold the stock together. One is at the wrist, the other just behind the bolt knob relief cut. How is the bore on it? How does it shoot? Are you selling this or just curious about its value?

aw hell I didn't know that was not factory. I bought it because the bore was great, it shoots better then my all matching vet bring back. I am thinking of selling it but I have a bartling R5 barrel in 308 that I may use to sporterize it

boomdoggie,

Please let me know if you are interested in selling. If so I would love to see pics and know the price. Please send pics and a price to [email protected]. Please don't sporterize it, there is a lot of history there and there are plenty of sporters already on the market for sale. Or you can buy a k98 receiver and use the barrel you have.

Selling? Need pics but non matching, pinged with good bore = $250 ish. Sometimes $150 for a fast sale.

I had to double check to see how many years ago you posted this.:p Fast sale would be an understatement, for sure!

Too bad the OP wants to sporterize it. There are so many other guns out there that would be better, brand new out of the box, that are worth less money.

Ok I guess I need to explain my self on this one, My wife was paralyzed from the waist down 2 years ago by a doctor, I know there are better rifles out there and that I could have bought a action. I paid 8 dollars for the gun 5 years ago at a garage sale, she use to love to shoot it due to the sights. Since the accident she has not really wanted to go out and hunt or shoot and the rifle in its stock form was to hard on her to shoot due to the metal but plate. So I let her shoot my 308 remington 700 and she loved the recoil and that is when she said she wanted to bubba the rifle to a 308. She doesn't ask for much any more and its not like I can't put it back together I have all the stock parts so I did the deed and the smile she got was worth all the deprecation of the rifle.

Probably the most solid reason I have ever heard to sporterize.
