I just bought some Lapua brass. I have several hundred BR4s I intend to use.
I also use them for my Valkyrie.
I just found 1000 CCI 400s in a drawer.
Are the cups too thin to use for a moderate 6.5 load (43.4 RL 16 behind 130 Berger OTMs) or will I get pierced primers?

Thanks

I say no, CCI 450's should not crater or be pierced, if so, look at headspace. BR4's really should not crater either. From personal experience, I am going to go out on a limb and say that you will get a more uniform burn with the BR4 using RL 16.

He said 400

Dont use the 400s.

Here is a pic from my cousin where he tested 30 of the 400s in a dasher

I've use Federal 205's in my Lapua brass with no issues. But, I'm also running 130's at 42.5gr of R16 or 140's at 41gr of H4350. I dont hotrod my shit.
What kind of velocities are you getting with that load?
43.4 in Hornady cases is getting 2918 in my Savage 24"
Funny thing is, last weekend I was getting that with 88°,95% humidity.
That was the same velocity I was getting last November @ 58°

In lapua brass I run 42.3 of R16 and get right around 2812, SD 9, ES 22 @54 degrees Fahrenheit out of my Tikka T3x Taca1 24" factory rig. It duplicates the Berger 130g factory load which shot 2810 at 53 degrees F.

Thanks, I know I will have to rework my load for Lapua, I plan a ladder test for tomorrow.
