Primers stuck on de-capping tin

Anybody have that happen? Any solutions? I picked up about 800 Speer, nickle plated, .40 S&W brass at the range (factory loads) and have been de-capping them before throwing in the tumbler. The primers get stuck on the pin and when it retracts, it re-seats the primer back into the pocket a little. I have to pump the handle about four times to shake it off before going to the next one.

I ground the end of a pin flat, put imperial wax and graphite powder on the pins. No luck. Any Ideas?

Are you using an RCBS decapping die? Mine does the same thing. My hornady dies do not do it at all.

I've had problems with Speer before. I simply discard them. Life is too short to mess with this crap. If you REALLY want to use them, get a primer swage die from Dillon or RCBS and restructure the primer pocket. A primer pocket reamer from Wilson will work also, if you have the basic Wilson tools. Nickle plating the brass makes it so hard and irregular that I don't mess with them. The Speers have been too tight for most primers I have tried. Guess they own CCI and have stronger machinery than me. JMHO

</div></div> I was and I had a lot of trouble with the RCBS. A guy at the range told me to try the Lee, (indestructible... "yeah right") decapping die. Same result!

I sure as hell have a lot better things to do with my time than screwing around making them work. Sounds like I'll be pitching them.

By the way...if you look at the base of the case you'll notice that it is slightly concave. I think that when they seat the factory primer, the pressure is enough to make the base concave...sure keeps the primers from backing out! JMHO

I too have had problems depriming 40 S&W Speer brass.

My solution was to use a Dillon die set.

I still get the ocassional failure to deprime but it is rare ocassion now.

I did notice the concave heads. I do also use Dillon dies on my 650 which is what I will reload them with but I am skeptical after hearing that the primers are hard to seat. New brass is not that expensive to have to put up with a bunch of trouble or messing around swaging pockets. I'll try to load some and as soon as I run into problems, they're out of here!

That's cause it "trust your life on ammo", and has a crimp on it.
I did a 5 gallon pail of 9mm and the crimped stuff stuck as you've described.
The LEE dies were great,I had a couple berden's in the pail and the decappind just slid up as it's suppoe to do.
