Printed Precision Trickler

Has anyone run some of the larger and slower burning stick powders through it? I’m wondering how it handles Rt Tumbo, H50BMG, RL50.

If it does those well, I’m gonna jump cause waiting on Paul is now completely beyond ridiculous
Not that I’m aware of but if anyone in the Houston area has some I’d be more than happy to test it out and get him the feedback for a disc and such for the trickler
 
It throws fast and more consistent than anything I’ve ever owned. At least Varget that is.

Yeah, I don’t doubt it but what we are learning is that often times these machines work well with powders of one morphology and then really terrible with powders of a different size shape and weight. And the guys that built these things seem to start out testing them with stuff just like Vaga and 4350. And they ignore the super magnum powders at the bottom of the burn rate chart

Hell, the guy in Australia, who does all the programming for the super spiller is not even allowed to own certain powders unless he can prove he has a rifle to shoot it in so he’s running around dispensing granulated sugar, and other nonsense out of the thing trying to tune it.

Agree. It does seem a lot of units out there have strengths and weaknesses for sure. Can’t throw this powder accurately, or this powder binds up the system, or this powder spills more than others.

I have tried N568 and got some bridging in the bulk hopper. At the time (in beta) I needed to go back to my v3+IP as the bulk drop was more consistent. Trickling was fine, but the latest rev of the bulk hoppers should address this. I haven't been able to try it yet but it took some discussion to iron out the kinks, and it does appear to be sensitive to your environment. Testers in very low arid environments didn't cite any issues, but those of us in more humid environments could reliably get bridging with large kernels.

wkarma I know has tried retumbo. the creator used N570 as a test candidate for these large kernels
 
I use it with Retumbo and 8133 frequently. You have to change the disc to the larger "Retubbo" disc, but that's it.


That video was on original prototype hardware and first release software. Since then Dr PP has updated some of the bulk thrower geometry and software logic to work better with larger powders. (Early bulk would sometimes bridge in the hopper if you had too much in there, and the new software sets the tolerance based on calculated kernel weight during the calibration.)
 
What is “bridging”?
Powder bridging is when powder granules clump together and form a partial blockage. This is most common in narrow drop tubes or funnels, with static electricity buildup, and when the powder is dropped too quickly or without vibration. It is most common with long-grain extruded (stick) powders.

In the PPT, I would think it would have happened near the exit point onto the bulk disk, because it looks/acts like a narrow funnel right there.
