Is it legal for a suppressor owner to sell/transfer his suppressor to someone who gets it approved by ATF via the Form 4? The buyer & seller are in the same state. I guess another way to ask this is if private person to person (non-dealer) sales are legal for suppressors. Or do all transactions have to go through a Class III dealer? Thanks.

Re: Private Person to Person Suppressor Sale Question

in state can go indidual to individual.

Re: Private Person to Person Suppressor Sale Question

As others have said, yes. However, the seller must maintain possession until the approved form 4 comes back to him. The new owner can then pick both up from the seller.

Re: Private Person to Person Suppressor Sale Question

form 4 to form 3 transfers are taking 5 to six months. All tax paid transfers take forever.

Re: Private Person to Person Suppressor Sale Question

just have to have the form 4's approved and your stamp back before taking possession and everything should be fine. No need for a dealer.

Re: Private Person to Person Suppressor Sale Question

I have done two direct suppressor transfers here in Florida. No problems.
