I know this is like asking about Ford Vs Chevy, but I am wanting to start a new discussion about suppressors, and specifically, my buying my first one.

I am perusing the threads here, and elsewhere, but I am hoping to hear from guys specifically who own multiple cans from multiple mfgs.

A lot of guys I imagine are like I will be. That is, only own one suppressor. So, perspective can be tough to find.

I have a 20" 308 that is finished at APA and is due to ship next week. The barrel is threaded and I intend to buy a standard thread on can.

I want a good, quiet, reliable suppressor, and would like to keep it light as possible. I know of the most commonly discussed brands, but I also know there are brands I had not heard of, that seem excellent to me. Notably, Elite Iron. I have a buddy with several suppressors, and many of them are this brand and I have been amazed by the results they provide on everything from 5.56 to 338LM to 50 cal. They dont seem super light weight but very effective.

Just curious what specific models you guys think I should consider.

There are a ton of threads on this subject, and they argue points in every direction. read up and take your pick.
Personally, I have a Phantom 7.62. I have used it on my .308, 300wsm, Ar-15, and my .223 bolt gun. I couldn't find ONE bad thing to say about it, the only thing that could make it better is to be lighter. Good luck with your choice.

I have a Shark and a Gemtech TPRS. To MY ear the Gemtech sounds slightly better but the light weight and ability to disassemble
the Shark FAR outweights the slight sound difference. I would buy the Shark again in a minute. No experience with the Iron Elite.
The Gemtech is great for banging steel but for a night time romp in the woods the Shark gets to go.

You might look at the SAS TI cans also.

Hope this helps.

I have tested multiple 308 cans......full write ups @ NFAtalk.org........with both Super and sub sonic ammo.

To date these 3 are the best ones I have metered.

Liberty Freedom @ 32 NSR on 18" 308.......@ 32 NSR on 23" 308
SRT Shadow @ 30 NSR on 22.5" 308
SWR Omega 300 @ 29 NSR on 18" 308

All this data is with Supersonic ammo......

Good luck.

As Im sure you will find, there are many different people who will have good input. The only problem with getting all the info you would like is, nobody posting can have one of all the possible cans in which to compare. There is no way to go put hands on each can that will be useable on your rifle. You will just have to go with the info you are given. Go shop around and put hands on a number of cans before you buy. I bought a Shark because, its lighter than anything Ive held, the warranty is for life, as mentioned above, it comes apart to clean, you can get multiple threaded end caps so the same suppressor can be used on many different rifles by changing the end cap. Most of all my choice for the Shark was the fact that David didnt give me some BS about the delivery date and he is a good guy to do business with.
