I have a RRA ar-15 on the way and tried getting some lods whipped up today. I ran the mouths of all 200 of my brand new winny brass through my fl die (did NOT size them fully) to even them out from getting dinged up from shipping.

Primed em, charged em, and now when I try seating them to 2.250" the bullet falls through the mouth of the case into the case body with the powder. What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks,
dom

Re: Problem loading .223

Did you have an expandral in the die.
why not full length size them to ensure that they are all equal.
if the projectile is falling through, you dont have enough neck tension. I would go back an resize them all. Just a safety issue for a gas gun

Re: Problem loading .223

Its pretty clear that the necks did not get sized.
The easy way to prevent future issues is to take a freshly sized case and drop a bullet in the neck. If it falls in the sizer id not size the neck.

What sizer die, and how did you set it up?

You missed the particulars associated with sizing a given chamber,to it's ammo.

Without grabbing my notes, that gives me .005" neck tension IIRC with my RCBS FL die. Works great with a VLD chamfer on the case mouth. Bullets slide in like butter and stay put no matter how hard I run the AR.
