Rifle Scopes Problem solved. Thanks for the help

Re: IOR 9-36 Runs out of elevation

What was your zero range?
You are positive you have a 20 MOA base?
If you mounted it correctly, and at center of reticle, you would have 25 moa up and 25 moa down, a 20 MOA base would give you 45 up and 5 down, even if you had to come up 20 MOA to get a zero, that should leave you approximately 25 MOA to play with.

You are telling us you had to come up 150 + clicks to get to zero?

Re: IOR 9-36 Runs out of elevation

Replace the base.

If you came up 29 MOA, then you did not start at center, you should have only had 25 MOA available.

What rifle?
Are these the IOR rings? They aren't canted rings/inserts are they? (Might have something backwards)

I just had problems with an EGW angled base, different problem but off it came, replaced with a flat EGW base and no more problem.

fixed

Im thinking you may be onto something. I checked the pkg the Mount came in. Its marked 20 moa, but it wouldnt totally suprise me if it got switched to a 0 moa. The rings are TPS TSRs w/o inserts. Rifle is a Rem 700 .308, 18" Hart barrel pushing a 168 SMK at 2750.

fixed

Ive used them on two other rigs without issue and they mount up nice and tight. Dont think its a ring to base compatability issue but who knows. May try a Warne or Talley

I have also had 2 EGWs, 1 of them was not slanted as it was marked and the other must have been 25moa but it was marked 20 moa. ???

Re: IOR 9-36 Runs out of elevation

Just occured to me.
My Father had an issue with a Ken Farrell 20 MOA base on his long action 700. Very similar to your problem he was running out of elevation adjustment just to get a 100 yard zero.

Turns out, it wasn't the base, it was the holes in the receiver.
They were too close together, when the screws were tightened down, they actually bowed the one piece base.
He replaced the one piece base with a 2 piece and uses Burris Zee rings with inserts (he has a 1" tube)

fixed

Thanks. I took the scope off, leveled the mount and slid a rigid copper rod down the bore, put a bubble level on the rod and the mount shows to be 0 MOA. Guess that solves it. Thanks for the help.

Re: IOR 9-36 Runs out of elevation

hmmm the 20moa bases I have you can actually see the slanted base with your naked eye very easily, can not understand how someone could not see the slant built into the base and mistake a 0 moa base for a 20

fixed

The 0 moa and the 20 moa both "slant" or taper. I guess you never need a caliper with your astute optical measurement abilities. Nice contribution on your post count #'s.
