Having a issue when loading the bipod on hard surfaces with what I first thought was skooting when pressure was applied but noticed that the feet was actually rotating or spinng and causing it to move forward.
I have the harris 6-9 swivel knotched leg model.
So whats the answer.

Re: Problem when loading bipod

Are you sure that that pressure you're putting on the bipod is in line with the rifle?

Re: Problem when loading bipod

The pressure necessary is very small, and its highly dependent on the shooter to execute correctly.

There are two videos available I made to show this, probably more than two to be honest.

While this one uses the Atlas, don't be fooled, the Atlas legs spin every bit as easy as a Harris if not more so.

But I also have a video on the home page that shows me shooting a Harris on Concrete.

Following the proper fundamentals and technique you can reduce any movement, even on concrete... small things matter and any mistakes will cause the bipod off target.

Done correctly you can see your impact shooting off concrete at 100 yards appear in the paper. But understand, the rifle will move, but how it moves is up to you, the shooter.

Re: Problem when loading bipod

I've only had a problem loading on a painted wooden bench at HardRock. Usually, if I have concrete, carpet, or something with just a slightly rough surface it's fine.

Re: Problem when loading bipod

Prone in the dirt is not really a problem, just on a harder surface. I'll load it and notice it feels like I'm chaseing it. Thats when I notice the feet rotating.
I'm going to the range one day this week and Iwill try finding it's happy spot with the pressure
Frank, what is the rear bag set up you are using?

Click on the video, if you see the globe image next to me click on it and it will link you to the rear bag. As well you can click on the bipod, etc...

These videos are interactive, or actionable, they answer their own questions.

Re: Problem when loading bipod

Thanks
Definely gonna smoke one of thos over.

I know I lay into it pretty hard sometimes when the feet get a good bite.
