Rifle Scopes Problem with new 2.5-10 Nightforce turret

Hey guys, I just added another Nightforce to my ever expanding collection a 2.5-10 and while out shooting with it this morning found that the windage turret is extremely tight and I mean it's so tight that it took two hands just to budge it. The elevation turret works just fine. Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? I'm wondering if it's an easy fix like a stuck O-ring or if it needs to go back to Nightforce.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Problem with new 2.5-10 Nightforce turret

You only have about 5 MOA in either directions on the Windage due to the Zero Stop on 2.5-10x32. Reset knob to 0 after zeroing the rifle per the instructions. Maybe this is not related to your issue.

No zero stop on this one and the turret just doesn't move in or out without a lot of force. It almost feels like there's an O-ring caught up inside of it because it's really spongy but heavy feeling.

That's good info but this one doesn't have zero stop and the turret just doesn't want to move. Ideas? Can I just pull the turret off without screwing it up? This is my first covered turret scope, the rest are 5.5-22x50s.

Is the plastic only on zero-stop models or both? I'll do that if I ever get it to move but it takes both hands just to move it 1MOA, I'd need a pipe wrench to get 5MOA out of it lol.

Before you really f the scope up. Remove it and send it back. But try calling NF first they may have an answer for the problem.

A call is cheap repair is costly.

Yeah, sadly I agree. I was just hoping for an easy fix like a binding/pinched O-ring or something that somebody else has ran into.

I agree give them a call, with regards to the turret does it move at all? On the tab its on the windage turret, u could almost say its a limiter, if u grind it down(it is tiny) u have a lot more moa to play with.

Yeah the turret moves but you really have to crank on it to the point where you know something isn't right, I mean it takes a lot of force from two hands to get it to move.

I'll give them a call tomorrow and I suspect I'll have to send it back. I'll do the grind trick to get some more MOA when it's fixed, thanks for the trick guys!

Re: Problem with new 2.5-10 Nightforce turret

Have you checked the range of motion on your windage turret? Maybe you are at one extreme end of the range. Also, it's pretty easy to remove the turret and inspect underneath: I"d certainly do that.

I thought that too but it simply wont move in either direction. I'll pull the turret off and give a look underneath like you mentioned. If it's something easy I'll take pic and post it up.
