Seeing if anyone is having issues mounting the PST 6x24 on a 20 MOA base. My rifle is a Savage 300 Win. When adjusting the reticle to zero at 100 yards I get a severe "egg shaped" view at 6x. It goes away if I power through about 12x (smaller FOV). It is currently at Vortex but had the customer service telling me that I shouldn't be mounting this on a MOA base. I have never seen a scope view "squish" down like this when zeroing. Finally was able to convince him something isn't right with this scope and now it is with the techs. Will update as I know more. Has anyone else encountered this?

There was another thread on the issue. I believe it is due to being at the limits on the elevation adjustment. Not a problem to worry about.

I don't think I fully understand what you are describing. You aren't talking about an eye relief issue are you?

That is normal for this scope as well as many others (though usually to a lesser extent). It is what it is. The best advice is if you're not shooting long range and using 6X a lot, use a flat base.

If you're shooting long range and mostly using the higher powers, use a 20 MOA base and just ignore the problem the few times you are on 6X.

Interesting. I can see where it can be hitting the elevation limits but with the scope optically centered and viewing thru a leupold boresighter, the view in the scope starts compressing with with a little less than 5 mils of adjustment. It is supposed to have 19 Mils adjustment, so centered it should have 9.5 mils either way. Adjusting it up to boresight at 100 yds starts compressing the view within 5 mils but going to the opposite end of the elevation range I get a clear view to the stops.

Ah crap, I just ordered a 30 MOA base to use with my 6x24.

Well Vortex is sending me back the scope stating no problems noted. So options are either to go with a flat base, live with 12x at short range or move it to another rifle.
