Production bolt action rifle in .223 with 1/8 or 7

I am wondering if anybody makes production/non-special order rifles chambered in .223 with either 1/8 or 1/7 twist bbl?
Remington only appears to have their .223 rifles in 1/9, which wouldn't work so well for me since I play to use 77,75, and 69 gr bullets.

Thanks.

69 will work out of the 1/9. Shoot it out of my LTR. Haven't shot the 75,or 77's. I don't know of any production rifle that has a 1/7 or 8 twist. Saw an article in a magazine that Savage had a rifle and was shooting heavies out of it. Can't remember the article but when I get home in morning I will look and see.

My factoring Remington 1/9 shoots the 69 and 75/77 magazine bullets very well.

That being said I would also really like to try a Tikka at some point.

The Savage model 12 FT/R in 223 is a 7 twist.

Not sure if it's what you want though, stupid long barrel, single shot, wood stock, target action.

Ideally, I would like something that I could drop into a McRee chassis.
Unfortunately, it seems like the selection for aftermarket Tikka stocks is rather limited.

I think your best bet is a cheapie used Savage and a call to Northland for a Criterion pre-fit. That way, you're not paying for a stock or other fancy parts you don't want or need.

Cheapie Savages and Stevens usually run ~$250 or so.

Re: Production bolt action rifle in .223 with 1/8 or 7

I shoot 75gr Hornady out of my 1:9 Savage with fantastic results, I believe it is a 24" barrel. I will try the 77gr next.

75gr does not stabilize in my 1:9 bushy varminter ar-15 (i shoot close to sea level). 69gr smk and berger 70gr vld both shoot well.

70gr vld
23.4 gr rl-15
Lc brass
Cci 400

Got me to 0.6 moa. Will chrono next time out (guessing 2750 fps)

I shoot 69gr bullets (handloads) in my Remington 700 (.223), in an MDT LSS, gen 2 chassis out to 600 yards, without any issue. This 5 shot

I have a totally stock savage with a 9 twist. I shoot 73/75 and 53gr bullets with lest than MOA accuracy. Most groups .5-.6 MOA.

I have a Remington 700 adl tactical in 223 that came with a heavy threaded 1:8 barrel. Unfortunately nothing remington is in production until the bankruptcy thing blows over.
