Advanced Marksmanship Prone support hand holding butt on shoulder?

Check out this guys prone position. What's up with the support hand holding the butt stock up onto his shoulder?

That is what I have been doing, but it only works when I am NOT square in my shoulders, my elbow ends up in fr ont of me , position is all wrong.I am not square to the gun then...that is why I find it nessesary to get a rear support bag.I am not compfortable or stable enough unless I bring that support elbow too far in front of me, which is learning to shoot incorrectly. I am rebuilding my posiition to be correctAND compfortable. I was getting some tight grous for a while the WRONGWAY. Now I have to break a bad habbit!
