In October I ordered 2 Proof Prefit Carbon barrels and today I was able to take them out and shoot them. I received a 26” 338 LM Barrel that weighed 4.0 lbs even with a 419 Sidewinder on it and a 24” 6.5CM with a PVA Jetblast on it which weighed 3.6 lbs. I wanted to lighten the load of my AXMC incase I want to shoot it at local matches. The balance is amazing and I was pounding silhouettes free hand at 400 yards.

This was my first 10 rds out of the 6.5 Barrel, I shot one, adjusted and tossed the other 9 in that one hole. This was done with PRIME Ammo, I was blown away to say the least. I was shooting at 109 yards (military range) so the inch measurements have been devided by 1.09 for my own tracking purposes, it’s just easier at 100.....the MV was 2834 ES 45 SD I think was like 14.1 I forgot to write it down.

Here are the first shots out of the 338 with my generic handloads for my previous barrel. 300 OTM over 89 H1000

I realize it’s a 3 shot group but it was like this all day. I even threw at 1/4 minute group down off a RRS Tripod today. See it here

I shot some plinking 140’s down th Barrel just to see what they would do and here is an 8 shot group with them.

The rest of the day was spent blasting steel but the mirage was to bad to shoot any quality phone scope footage. I must have let 10 different people shoot off the tripod, I brought the vyce as well and was shooting my wife’s 7RM, great day shooting! I am amazed at the accuracy from the Prime Ammo, the steadiness of the RRS leveling head and vyce, and the accuracy of the Proof barrels. These strings were fired rather fast to see if the accuracy opened up. With the amount of carbon fiber they used I’m not surprised the POI never changed. I’ll be using Poof from now on.

I’m thinking I may be a prime convert in 6.5CM, as cheap as it is I may never touch my 6.5 die again ha

I'm a huge fan of Proof barrel's and seeing same accuracy as you in 2 6 creedmoors and a 6.5x284.

I see a lot of Carbon Fiber in my future ha. Here’s my next one, 338 RUM hunter. I’m completely sold on them!

I ordered direct, I ordered the 338 Barrel on Oct 20th and the 6.5 on Nov 16th. Both arrived about two weeks ago. It was a bit of a wait but they are worth it. I’ll be ordering a few more here in a while. I have to get my new Defiance proof put together and then I’ll add some more carbon fiber goodness to the AXMC package.

What’s the weight of the factory barrels?

My 6.5CM 26” TCR weighed 5.4 lbs if memory serves, so a savings of roughly 2 lbs.

The balance is a light years better now, it’s still 17.6 lbs total for a long action with, HRD 11” Arca Rail, Atlas with RRS pic/Arca adapter, small action conversion kit, mag, RRS foprearm adapter, and an AMG in a Spuhr, but it handles a lot better than before.
