Will a 15” handguard cover a +3 gas tube? I think it may, I wonder how much of the block will be exposed? Anyone have something they can relay to? This is for 6.5 creedmoor with an Aero M5e1 handguard.

It will not. A 15" handguard on a proof research +2 would barely cover it with most of the gas block exposed.
This is my Zev 6.5 creedmoor build with a stainless 22" Proof research +2 rifle. Handguard is 16 5/8.
I may have to back up and punt. It looks like I’ll have about 3/4” of tube exposed. I’m not sure my CDO will allow this. Is it acceptable for some? Know of any options to get around this? A regular M5 with a longer handguard? The PR barrel I ordered is 24” with the .868 between the muzzle and block. Thank you for measuring for me.
I personally don't like the look of blocks being exposed and certainly wouldn't like seeing the tube but to each their own.
Unless you are set on Aero other handguards are available that would cover it.
I'm pretty sure grey ghost gear, V7, SLR, JP, Midwest industries, etc have 18"ish handguards that should work for you.

I agree with you 100%. The upper is an M5e1 and I don’t think anything else will work on it. I’m going to do something different. I just don’t know what.
Not to my knowledge. I’d gladly pay for it. I really like the barrel I’ve got on order but I’m afraid I’m going to have to cancel it. ZEV looks like a better option with longer Handguards available. I could by another m5 upper and find a handguard that’ll cover everything. I like the way ZEV and the M5e1 Handguards Mount to the upper though.
Have you checked out the Sgt if Arms handguard? I believe it is 16.5 or 17.5 and is BAR nut compatible (bolts straight to an enhanced upper). Not sure on profile compatibility with large frames as far as high profile,low profile, DPMS and all that but they are pretty nice. It's an ARCA rail handguard which may not be for some people.

That's the one. They make some nice stuff. I'm on phone right now at work and not sure how to link stuff really with a pc either...lol. I'm a small frame guy but I figured if it fits a small frame enhanced it probably would a large frame.Here you go:

A 17” hand guard would be 1/8” past the gas block screw…
And yes, I plan on getting a 17” hand guard for it when all the back orders catch up.
