I'm happy to announce that Proof Research is now online!

Proof Research

Proof Research (formally doing business as Xtreme Precision Armaments) has purchased all the patents and rights that were being used by ABS Barrels, plus Lone Wolf Rifle Stocks and Jense Precision gunsmithing and brought them under one roof.

We build the finest ultra-light weight custom made rifles, stocks and barrels and we would like to invite you to visit our website (very much a work in progress). There will be much more to come in the future.

Thank you!

Re: Proof Research is online!

A .300 Remington Ultra Magnum left the shop the other day wearing an XT Tactical stock, a 28" Proof Research carbon fiber wrapped Sendero contour barrel with a custom titanium muzzle brake and a Zeiss Rapid Z 600 scope and rings and weighed in at 9 pounds, 6 ounces. It's a lightweight, tack driving monster!

Nice link to some NICE rifles. Thanks for sharing.

Yum.

Re: Proof Research is online!

On your website there's not a price on these barrels. What would a price range be for one. I'd like to lighten up my rifle and this would do wonders.

The high speed cameras and thermal imaging cameras will capture in vivid detail the actions and re-actions of our firearms, barrels and various munitions as they are being used. So when we give an accuracy guarentee, we will have the scientific data frame-by-frame to prove it.

There are a lot of accuracy claims out there. But actual scientific proof of accuracy is what we will offer in spades!

Call me at 406-756-9290 or post the specs of the barrel you are looking for. Our turn around time has become very good once we get barrels from Satern and Rock.

The site is brand new this week and we are in the middle of moving to our new temporary facility. A real cluster that has occupied us a lot of this week. Call me at 406-756-9290 or post the specs of the barrel you are looking for.

Re: Proof Research is online!

Wrapped Satern or Rock barrels up to 28 inches in length for your standard Remington 700, Winchester model 70, etc. actions start at $900. Shipping is $20 for a barrel. Special one-off shop work is billed at $65 to $100 an hour depending on how much of a pain in the ass the idea is. In other words, my own wild-ass ideas cost me lots of money.

Re: Proof Research is online!

I will pass your question on to our engineer so you don't get some SWAG from me.

As the Proof Research website develops, you will be able to get a much better idea of how our patent (#6889464) works.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Proof Research website</div><div class="ubbcode-body">"Some companies use carbon as a gimmick. <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic"><span style="color: #FF0000">They use the wrong carbon and the wrong technique</span></span></span> – so it insulates the heat.

Our secret is in our patent (#6889464), a carbon-fiber wrap process that sheds extreme heat, creating longevity, durability, and yes – accuracy.</div></div>

Using the right type of carbon fiber wrapped using the correct methods enables carbon fiber wrapped steel barrels to cool exponentially faster than all steel barrels of the same contour.

But proof is what it's all about. As our website comes online, you will be able to see the proof for yourself.

What barrel life would you expect from a CF wrapped barrel in a 243? </div></div>

The generalized answer is "two to three times normal barrel life".

To get anymore specific, I would have to know more about the exact loads you shoot. What bullets, what powders, how much of each powder, what rate of fire, etc?

I knew I had read a fairly in depth article a good while back but was having trouble finding it. It deals with the two types of carbon fibre and how the engineering challenges were met. Very cool read.

Given that you have not posted it, holler if it is cool and I will post the link.

Posting a link works for me. The science of shooting I find very interesting.
