I shoot 43.5 Varget with a 168Amax in surplus brass.

With a 178 Amax I use the same charge in RP brass.

If I can manage to get a deep freezer before hunting season, I'll will try to get out deer hunting. Without the deep freezer I have nowhere to store all the meat. I would like to get a couple deer this year though. $20-40 tags for 6-7 months supply of meat would be nice.

Re: Proud New Owner.....

Gonna throw the Vortex Viper on it tonight and take it to the range on my day off tomorrow and see how it does with a box of HSM match 7.62 w/168gr A-max. I'll post back tomorrow and let you know how it did.

I thought they made these in 7-08. Close enough to 260 if not a bit better if you ask the 7-08 guys;)

They do make them in .7-08 but I already have a .260 so I would not have had to buy the dies and what not to reload. The .308 will do the job plenty well for shooting out to 600yds. I already have a 1K yd rifle so this one will basically be a hunting/steel plate plinker.

That's true, they do. I asked a couple local dealers what the wait time would be on one and I was told 60-90 days. Regardless, I very happy with the .308.
