Got a bit of cash laying around for next project. I have a 700 action and ptg 1 piece bolt in the safe already. Been wanting a m2008 so do I buy a pst to put on it or do I just use the remington and go with a razor. Have 1 razor and like it alot. Big upgrade for me over my nxs I had to unload to get the razor. I know these pst vs razor have been here be before but the search don't work on my phone.

There really isn't any "PST over Razor" debate. The Razor is the superior scope.

What YOU have to decide is if getting the M2008 is enough of a benefit to equip it with a lower class of optic. If you don't need the features the Razor offers and you do need the features the M2008 offers, then the choice is clear.

It will probably just come down to which you want more.

I like shiny new kit, but if you are comparing the M700 with Razor and M2008 with PST, then the optics will have more to do with you consistently hitting the target than the type of receiver you use.

I guess I worded it wrong. My current razor would go with the badger and the pst will replace the razor on the 700. Also not really comparing the 2 as the razor is the better optic but more along the line is a razor worth 2 pst.

I hate to say it, but it's not something that anyone will be able to answer for you.

Since you have a Razor and plan on keeping the Razor, then why not get the PST and see if you like it?

I have quite a variety in the optics in my safe because I like to try different things. I also don't believe every rifle in my safe needs a $2-3K optic on it.

I would go with a second Razor and build using the action you already have, but that's just me. The M2008 is a sweet action but I'd prefer a Razor and Rem receiver than the PST on a Badger receiver.

Is selling the 700 action/bolt in consideration?

If your planning on truing the action along with some other enhanced features it will come out pretty close to the cost of a M2008, here's an example.

Action w/ PTG bolt - $600 ish?
truing - $250
8/40 scope base screw - $60
Scope base - $100
Side bolt release - $125

I did a quick search on the PTG bolt and it looks like it goes for $270 on midway. You could probably sell the bolt with the 700 action for around $600ish I'm assuming, which would mean that you would have $1135 into the 700 action which is more than a M2008. The M2008 would have all those features plus a 60º bolt throw, ability to use AW mags, pinned scope base with 4 screws, longer barrel tenon, dual recoil lugs (didn't factor in oversize lug because I'm not sure what the market value is).

I was sorta in the same situation, I had a 700 action and after factoring all the mods I wanted to do, it was cheaper to just get the M2008 and have something a little more unique than a 700 action. I was also fortunate enough to be able to top off my M2008 build with the Razor HD.

If selling the 700 action is not an option, I would rather keep the Razor and build off the 700.
