I dont seea need for it. If you cant hit your mark without one then maybe you need some practice?? Measure, and measure often and watch the gauges. I havent been doing this very long at all, and i just dont see a need for it!! lee

Why I certainly agree with you Lee, I chaambered a Dasher on Friday using mine and first stop came to .030 short of my chamber length...4 quick adjustments & cuts with the Micro Stop after hitting that mark and I was done.
For what I have done so far its nice & quick to set up but I use my gages for some as well.

I used it twice and after taking a bath with my coolant - as the stop comes closer and closer to the barrel it deflects the coolant to the side (thru barrel high pressure system) I decided not to use it anymore.
After adding DRO to my tail stock - I see no need for it at all. Lock the carriage in place to act as a consistent stop when you move the tail stock back for checking.

Don't need more practice just like using it better. I have done more with gauges than I have with it I just prefer using it better. Have you tried one Lee?

I have a DRO on the tail stock, it works good. But in looking at the PTG Reamer stop I believe it could be a very good time saver. I just wanted to hear what others had to say.

First, is it worth it question is up to you, and how easy do you want to make it for your self. Need it?? No, not really. A lot of rifles have been chambered with out it before it came along. Then again we use to haul our goods to stores with horse and wagon, and now we use 18 wheelers. It's a good tool that saves time and is dead nuts accurate which can prevent costly mistakes, so why not. Other than the $200.00 cost of course. Needless to say, I have one, and appreciate those that made it possible.

If I wasn't using a flush system for coolant, I may like the stop but the "last cut" isn't soon enough - the closer you get to the barrel with it the more coolant pressure gets diverted by it - same as squeezing a garden hose.
Long before you are "near the last cut" there is a lot of coolant flowing 90 degrees from where you want it - like at you and the wall.
Given a choice between flush system and the stop - flush system will win every time.
Just my .02 from having one and using it - your mileage may vary.
