Can someone break down in short order these designations? I see deals on thermals and afraid to pull the trigger. I am assuming the trail is the newer version.
Night Vision Pulsar Helion, trail, APex?

The Quantums(spotters) and Apex(scopes) are like 2015 ... the Helions (spotters) and Trails (scopes) are newer, like 2017 ... the new/new pulsars will be the Axions(spotters) and Thermions(scopes), once they are released expected for 2019.
Good info above. All other variables equal, the difference between the trail line and the apex line are the features. The trail comes with internal video recording, rechargeable battery pack, has the ability to stream WiFi to your phone and a couple other features. The apex is a plain Jane scope. Takes normal batteries. Doesn’t record without external DVR etc.
My advice if you don’t want to buy used, and want a good value scope... wait until the new line (thermion) comes out this summer. Their new 320 resolution/12 micron core scopes are supposed to be a better bang for your buck than the current 384 resolution/17 micron core scopes. They are also supposed to have an equal or slightly better view through the lens overall.
The new 640 resolution thermions won’t have any internal differences as far as the quality of view through the lens goes or internal specs other than base magnification.
