I have a LRF xp50 and I played with the Thermion at Shot.
The model Thermion xp50 I handled at Shot.
I was told by Pulsar that Pulsar has no plans in instituting a LRF into the Thermion .
My personal observations on the Thermion.. It felt light duty, the controls were
quite poor in function and feel, in regards to the menu (side parallax knob position)
Spinning the menu knob in step zoom function left the zoom out of synch with
my input.. meaning the knob would spin faster than the internal software .
The knob also felt very "cheap".
The NUC function was not operational at Shot, so I witnessed alot of ghost
images / doubles.. so a fair comparison of image resolution was not even possible.
The Thermion is really light weight and its form factor seems to hold promise though.
Pulsar rep did say they were aware that the knob function needed tuning and the NUC
software wasn't quite ready for Shot.. so those things will apparently be addressed yet.
The Thermion has a user choice of standard or extended size removable battery packs, with
an onboard, non removable battery also integrated into the unit. The unit draws its
power off the rechargeable battery first, then is supposed to switch seemlessly to the
integrated battery automatically..
I personally love the Ips5 and Ips10 battery packs the Trail's use.. they perform
amazingly.. so hopefully Pulsar delivers same results with these new battery system in the
Thermion.
Will I be buying a Thermion and selling my Trails? NO, I will not..
Here is a pic of the Thermion new removable battery pack. It inserts into the postion
where the elevation turret would be on a day optic.
