I just received a pvs-14 and after fielding it hunting this weekend I noticed when I attached it to the J-arm the seems to be a fair amount of play in it. As this is my first one could someone tell me if this is normal?

I am impressed with everything about it, other than the J-arm which seems fragile to me. Are there more sturdy options that will work with the same helmet attachment.

I also found that it would shut it self off when I turned the objective focus clockwise (only while in the helmet mount) about half the time.

I sounds like the screw isn't tightening up all the way. It will shut off if it breaks contact.

Check to make sure the screw isn't bottoming out before it gets tight.

What kind of J-arm and mount are you using?

I'm not sure what ever came with the MILSPEC kit.

I got to looking closer and found the last thread on the J-arm thumb screw had something on it after cleaning it and tightening it back on it works as it should.

Thanks Cody

So folks know, all the Mil-Spec GI issued mounts have a bit of play. That is why God assisted in Wilcox and Norotos type mounts.

Seriously, for ROCK SOLID setups even while in a full sprint, either the Wilcox or Norotos type helmet mounts are the way to go. Hope this helps.
