With all the newbies with have on the Hide, I thought it might be useful to put together a list of common jargon/language used in the PX and their literal translations. This is just a partial list of what I have observed as a keen user of the PX for many years (as a seller and buyer). Please feel free to add to the list.

"Like New/Mint Condition" = Used. May have scratches, dings, dents, etc.

"New/Brand New" = I may have fired or mounted it, then changed my mind and put it back in the box.

"FIRM Price" = Check back tomorrow for a cheaper price.

"Final Price Drop" = Check back in a few days for another price drop.

"Safe Queen" = If you consider the plastic case the gun comes with a "safe". I don't even own a safe.

"No Low Ball Offers" = Any offer less than my full asking price.

"Send your trade offers. Worst I can say is no" = I will say no to every offer, unless you can guess the one item I want.

"It's A One Hole Gun" = I only shoot one round groups.

"As long as I do my part" = True, if gun is being sold by Jerry Miculek.

"Used, but not abused" = Looks like it's been dragged behind your truck on a gravel road.

"I don't have time to shoot anymore" = I have no more time to mess with this piece of shit.

"I don't shoot it as much as I thought I would" = It's a frustrating, inaccurate, unreliable piece of junk.

"My loss, your gain" = I'm selling it for exactly what I paid.

"All day long" = As long as it's not a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

"Unknown round count" = I lost count after 5000.

"Low round count" = Anywhere from 1 to 1000.

"Rare/Hard to find" = They only made 100,000 of them.

"Going in a different direction" = wife found credit card bill and said it was her or the new gun.

"No Low Ball Offers" = My price is basically firm, but I don't want to come out and say so.

"Send your trade offers. Worst I can say is no" = I will say no to every offer, unless it's exactly the one item I'm looking for.

The best thing the serious seller can do for himself is provide very well taken images: in focus, well lit, show any flaws, scratches, etc. The more photos the better, from every possible angle, close up images, etc. Make all the terms and conditions of the sale right up front. Has worked very well for me. What gets me are the people who just can not be bothered to read a PX listing and then send stupid questions that are answered very clearly in what was posted in the listing. Makes me go:  Fortunately much less of this here than on Gunbroker. It just never ceases to amaze me.

“Decided to go a different route”

I decided to do what every person who posted in my three forums of “what to buy/help me build” actually suggested, before I cheaped out and bought something one person stated was the same quality as what everyone else stated to use at 1/4 the $$
