im looking at the YHM QD 762, or a SAS Ti QD or a 260...

a buddy with a GAP m40a1 has a coastal can .. he has been having accuracy issues and he was told by a dealer that when the can heats up is is the cause of his issue..

the dealer is trying to sell him a 1400$ shark can
http://www.sharksuppressors.com/Product.aspx?id=1

says he has tested "them all" and this can is the most accurate and will solve his issue..

i have heard else ware, that http://www.thunderbeastarms.com/products/30p-1 "is the most accurate"

im not worried about POI shift, just if the heat up issue is BS or not, and if any of you that have had both QD and thread on's have seen a real accuracy issue with both types

and anyone that has used the SAS QD, i would love you input...

for his coastal, i figure we could test by shooting 5 cold, then shoot 20 fast, then 5 to re group, then while still hot, pull the can and 5 more

Re: QD or thread on... how do they effect accuracy?

Are you looking at the SAS true QD or the one where it threads onto the muzzle Brake?

I have an AAC 7.62SD with the old 18 tooth mount and I don't get that warm and fuzzy feeling about it anymore. I just don't know if the SAS true QD would be repeatable or not. The mount that has the threads on the rear should be repeatable.

I love the SAS cans and have heard them shot back to back with the Shark Tigershark on 308's. You could not tell the difference between the two.

I played with the "latest and greatest" 51 tooth AAC mount this weekend and was less than impressed with it's lock up. Once you tighten it down against the shoulder, it was fine but, the teeth were off enough to get signifigant wobble.

Re: QD or thread on... how do they effect accuracy?

The SAS system is very good across the board and repeatable most definitely. I have been running the SAS thread over muzzle brake design and QD design for several years now. The concerns I had were repeatability and POI shift, which has these cans have clearly demonstrated excellent results reliably. If you would like to discuss these feel free to PM me and I will schedule some time to discuss.

Re: QD or thread on... how do they effect accuracy?

I have a QD model that I've ran on a couple AR's and do not notice any accuracy effects, good or bad, once it heats up. Just semi auto.....
