Just stop buy my local shop to see the DTA SRS and what to know what you guys think about the Walther barrels vs the SCA Bartlein Barrels. I hear more good things about Bartlien than Walther. Going to demo one this weekend to get a feel for it.If I do get one I would think I would go with Bartlein and SCA deal than DTA Walther barrels.Would have to sell my HS precision Takedown in 308 and 300 mag to get it and it shoots like a house on fire STILL.Any thoughts pros and cons

I run Benchmark DTA barrels, but would choose the SAC barrel if those were your choices, in all honesty they will both shoot better than most shooters could. I would go with what you want, cost is marginal between barrels. I will warn you, once you shoot it you will buy one. I purchased mine after getting behind one.

DTA's barrels are very much good to go. The only reason to go the 3rd party route, in my opinion, is if there isn't a specific length, contour or cartridge covered by the DTA barrels.

Also would like to know what your POI change with your suppressor and without. I dont have a POI shift shooting my HS becuse how the barrels are glued and bolted to the forend. Its like shooting a benchrest rail gun.

A. There are no poor choices with DTA barrels, the factory Walther barrels are fantastic. I have a .308(16") and a .260(26") they are my most used barrels and I LOVE the accuracy and repeatability. I also have a 24" SAC 7mm SAUM, and it is a warhammer. The good news is that there are few people making barrels for DTA's that dont do a great job.

B. The POI shift from my gun is typically straight up, I believe firmly that it is simply a result of the recoil reduction. All my barrels are very repeatable, as is the POI change with the can.

I have 2 DTA SRS A1s and love them. Mine have the factory Bartlien 260 Rem & 308 barrels as well as a 338LM Kreiger. They all shoot easily 1/2 MOA after 1000s of rounds. Repeatable POI shifts when switching calibers, even multiple times at the range. Both guns have different shifts. When switching from 308 to 260 Rem the shift is up 1.1 mil and left 0.4 mil. Piece of cake once your get to know your barrels. Have fun at your Demo and be prepared to open your wallet!

Ditto on the factory barrels, they all shoot, everyone of them were more capable than I am. I currently have a factory 16" 308 in my covert that just drills it.

As already mentioned the only reason I went with Mark @ SAC is because I wanted some specific lengths not offered by DT.

That being said, I am a huge fan of Bartlein and Mark's work is fantastic if you are going 3rd party. I have a 338L and 6.5x47L he spun @ 22.5" and they shoot the lights out as well.

Cannot wait to try the SAC I just got from the FEDEX man yesterday, chambered to allow me to seat out my 300 Scenars to 3.9" and that pipe is 29" for some ELR work.

DTA Barrels are fantastic. Mine shoots sub 1/2 MOA all day long with frequent one hole sub 1/4 groups. The only reasons I would go custom over DTA would be if you wanted a caliber or barrel length not offered by Desert Tech or you needed a barrel with a different thread pitch and did not want to use a thread adapter.

Mine performed well enough for this a couple weeks ago.

I think I will go with Bartlein with a Transitional Rifling if I get the DTA and use SCA. Now what kind of twist for the 308 and the 300 mag. Any thoughts guys

I have a SAC bartlein in 308, and it is fantastic.I just ordered another in 260. I don't want to start a this company is better then that company thread. But will say this. I see better results on the range (out to 1000), and it seems the Bartlein is easier to clean. I don't know if it's b/c I chose a 1:10 24" barrel vs the factory 1-11 22". Plus having Mark do his magic. This is all my opinion and personal thoughts.

With a Transitional Rifling

308 start with 1-10 to 1-8 in the last 3in, want to sub some loads, with a 24 or 26 inch barrel
300 mag start with 1-11 to 1-9 in the last 3in, to give me a very wide range of bullet weights all the way to 240 smk with a 26 to 30 inch barrel

My only though is do I still what to deal with the HS TTD 4 steps to change barrels and bolt

VS
DTA has a 14 steps to change barrels and bolt

If I sell my HS what kind of price tag do you think I should put on it

Do you have the PSR version shown in the video, or the version they show on their website? The PSR version looks pretty sweet. I wonder how the accuracy is and what it weighs.

No I dont but simliar to it minus the folding stock and rails on front. Called HS to see if I could send my rifle in to get that folding stock but wont do it.My rifle still hold 1/2 moa at 100yd for both cals. I have 2300 rd though the 308 and 1100 though the 300 mag and still going strong.

No report on my demo on the DTA shop owner had to move it to next week. Still got out and shot my rifle. Will keep you guys updated
