I am wanting a muzzle break for my new build that is a m24 contour barrel, I am thinking either going with the little bastard or the badger thruster. My question is can the break be turned down to match the contour of the barrel so it is seamless or which one would be better to match the contour.

Thanks

Walter

Re: question about barrel and muzzle break

Yes you can turn them down. I believe APA says not to go below .850 on magnum calibers. Not sure on the Badger but I'm sure it can be turned down. From my limited experience the brake will be more effective leaving it the full diameter and tapering it from behind the ports to the barrel OD.

Something like this.

Re: question about barrel and muzzle break

Both can be turned down to be seamless.

I've had both the brakes you mention (Little bastard and thruster), both seamless on M24 contour barrels, both on 284's.

My thoughts:

-The LB looks nicer
-The LB has gotten way too expensive
-For recoil mitigation, my opinion is the thruster works better
-I prefer how the thruster aims the exhaust upwards a bit
-I *much* prefer the price of the thruster
-It sucks more having your face close to the thruster than the LB...the thruster is like getting bitch slapped

Old thread but I have a similar predicament, except for a 300WM. I'm planning on turning in the end of a 26" M24 so that it will be flush. I've narrowed it down to the Thruster of the Little Bastard.
Honestly I like the price of the thruster but wonder if the smaller ports would suffice for a 300WM.
I think the APA Little Bastards looks bad ass, but am worried about dust kick up as it seems the larger ports do not vent upward... Also it's almost double the price.
Has anyone used these two on a 300WM before?

Thanks

For recoil mitigation, both will work...but the lb is about the most effective brake out there. Also, Both punish your neighbors, the lb punishes those 3 firing points away as well.

Do you think it would be safe to turn the Little Bastard down to .90 and still maintain its effectiveness? APA recommends no less than .90 for magnums as its overall diameter is an inch. The thruster is .95 and I haven't seem anything on what they recommend turnin it down to.
Both brakes have 3 side ports but I believe the thruster is the only one that vents slightly upward to minimize dust kickup, is this true?
